Russian railgun questions

Hey shipmates,

I recently started playing the Russian cruisers and I absolutely love the high velocity, accuracy, and flat trajectory of the guns, though they are definitely squishy as heck. I have a few questions and I hope you can help me out. I am playing the Kirov and it is the first that seems to have the railgun type trajectories. So here are my questions.

1) Do all the cruisers above it in the line have the same flat shooting guns, and are they as fun to play as the Kirov?

2) Do you think the premium Molotov is worth getting if you like the Kirov?

3) Do the battleships also have these railguns, or is it just the cruisers?

4) While I'm at it, do the destroyers have them too?

Anyway, thanks for any help you can give me

If you like the Kirov, the Molotov is a Kirov on steroids.

And yes, It's a feature of the line, railguns all the way,

Thanks a lot, awiggin,

I think I am definitely going to enjoy all the Russian cruisers then. I'm not a destroyer kind of guy, but I will probably try out the battleships too. And I am definitely thinking I will be buying the Molotov.

Molotov has T9 guns (180 mm) on a floating citadel. Great ship but when you’re heavily targeted prepare for a short, sharp trip back to port if you can’t make cover and wasd hacks work.

Yeah,

I'm kinda used to that though. I tend to like to play squishy cruisers. But unlike many of them, which have orbit-level floaty shells (like American), at least the Russian ones are flat shooting and I can hit with them very well. I have leveled the German cruisers up to Hindenburg, and I really like them, though they aren't nearly as squishy. And I have definitely come to a quick and nasty end more than once.  ;)

Thanks, Bravo

Russian battleships are not even in test yet, do rail guns are unknown atm.

Destroyers have flatter trajectories,  but do lift some at longer ranges, but you can still hit what you lead correctly.

Cruisers at higher tiers have higher arcs, but shorter flight times, so hitting anything out to 19.1 mm is easy.

A Kirov in tier 7 is not fun.....

A Kirov in a tier 5 is not fair.... to the enemy.

oops...

You're right.  Don't know what I was thinking... no Russian BB's yet, so I guess we'll see sometime later.  I guess I was thinking of the Premium one I saw in the shop.

Thanks, dEs, and everyone, for the wisdom and advice.

I have to hit the sack now... got to get up early for work (yuck).

I'd still appreciate more opinions though.

My two cents worth.

1) Yes, though staying at range becomes more and more important to avoid being blapped.

2) I bought it and enjoy it.

3) All we have now is October Revolution. Hard to say with any certainty. Big difference between, say, Warspite and the recently introduced tech-tree RN BBs. So a single premium ahead of a line can be deceptive.

4) Yes. They are known as HE spamming devils of the sea, Khabarovsk in particular. Same sort of play style. Stay at range, use that accuracy and velocity, burn things down.

Great questions! I hope you continue to enjoy the line.

Respects,

Am

1.  From Kirov on, the RU Cruiser guns are all ranged specialists.  Good range, high velocity shells, low shell arcs.  Moskva in Tier X brought in the "Russian Railgun" nickname.

2.  Molotov is a very powerful Tier VI Cruiser but ever since the MM changes, life is much more dangerous.  She sees a lot of Tier VIII threats.  Many BBs in Tier VIII have no problems trying to nail a Molotov at range.  This isn't like Tier VI where you got numerous BBs like New Mexico who have range and accuracy issues.  Molotov is powerful when she's top tier, but highly vulnerable when bottom.  Granted, Tier VI Cruisers tend to go "Squish" real easy in a Tier VIII match, but if you are spending money on Molotov, understand Tier VIII is what you'll be seeing a lot.  Even the CAs like Atago, Hipper / Prinz Eugen, Baltimore will outright crush Molotov with ease.

3.  It's a Cruiser thing mostly.  There are a few BBs with relatively high velocities (for a BB) but they tend to have dispersion issues.

4.  RU DDs are the best general, long range DD guns in the game.  The IJN DDs of the Akizuki family (VIII Akizuki, IX Kitakaze, and the very notorious X Harugumo) are also very dangerous.  But the RU DDs still stand out because of velocity and low shell arcs.  Even the shells from the Akizuki-family of DDs get floaty at range as their light shells lose velocity.
