Nothing I type here can add to the pathos.

I must note that those who underestimate the intelligence and emotional capacity of cats are sadly mistaken.  They can and do become very attached to each other and to their servan .. er .. people.

so, this is apparently fake, and its really just the cat watching a video of another cat and a turtle, isnt it amazing how awful some people can be to toy with others emotions like this?

It doesn't matter if it's fake or not because it sets out to do what it was meant to do. The actions and the title go together to engender emotion in the viewer, just like with a "tearjerker" song.

Plato, the consummate rationalist, hated plays because the authors would set up scenes to engender false emotions in the viewer. However, he failed to understand that this is exactly why people go to plays to begin with. It's cathartic to let oneself feel emotion from time to time in a controlled setting where it doesn't get in the way of important things.
