Do different ships have a hidden stat for catching fire?

I know HE rounds have a fire chance printed on them and there are skills that can effect it either way, but I consistently seem to catch fire in British ships so much more. The Nelson, Warspite and Iron Duke all seem to catch fire more easily than my Tirpitz or USS NC being focused vs T10s. Is this just a long running statistical anomaly for me, or is there something about the target ship that effects chance of fire (outside of captain skills)? I don't get hit nearly as much in it, but my New Orleans and Independence seem immune.

Short answer is yes, ships have a "fire resistance" that can be modified by things like the captain's skill Fire Prevention.

There is a base fire resistance value that changers per tier. It’s the same for everything except cvs. So in short yes, but two surface ships in the same tier excluding captain skills should have the same fire chance.

Yes, there are fire-resistance coefficient attached to the hull of your ship, which will reduce the fire chance of an incomming shell by up to 50%. These coefficients are tied to the Tier, Type and the Ship's Hull. A table with all the various coefficients can be found on the wiki: http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Fire

The only exception that I know of is the German Destroyer Z-39, which despite being a T7 ship has a T8 coefficient attached to her, due to her keeping her T8 stats when she was moved down a Tier.

You might not be imagining things, the higher tier ships have better fire resistance. So it would make sense your tier 5-6-7 BBs catch fire a little more often than your tier 8 BBs.

Evidently the Duke of York was painted with petrol based paints as it seems like people just switching to HE on their guns makes the ship catch fire. :Smile_teethhappy:

The bots in UF have a 99% chance of setting your ship ablaze or so it seems. I had your same question, about US & German BB's, a few months back and was given  http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Fire also. Having that single shell set your ship on fire after using all your consumables to to survive being focus fired upon by DD's and fire breathing cruisers is frustrating.

Bots, no matter if in operation or co-op have always had a stupidly high chance of setting ships on fire.

Modules can affect this too.

Ships get higher fire resistance with hull upgrades.

In Ultimate Frontier it seems as if it is a certainty. Sometimes it seems they are using napalm in both coops & ops.  For me it is more apparent in ops because coops are usually over fairly quickly.

You are correct the bots chance of setting a ship on fire is very high.
