My Second hobby besides Battleships and such are Logging Locomotives and model railroading (not in lego though) They ran in the woods from Maine to California and were really strong. They looked so weird because they are geared locomotives that ran slow but could go up steep grades and around sharp curves. I will show lego first then real life pics. There are hundreds that still exist (also I didn't build any of these)

Nope but I've been to Mt. Rainer Scenic Railroad they have a bunch... Cass is on my bucket list though they've just (well like three years ago) a three-truck climax and their shays are great!!

I went last August. Never been anywhere else yet. Sadly. Durango and Chama are on the list, though, as is White Pass.

I do N as well, though I model UK...

And I think you meant NKP Berk-N&W didn't have 2-8-4's.
