JUTLAND - What am I doing wrong?

I've had the JUTLAND for about 10 days now and still can't figure her out.  Loved the LIGHTNING (56% w/r) and figured...LIGHTNING with a heal, sign me up!  But alas, it's one step ahead, two back with the JUTLAND (34% w/r...ouch).  My damage isn't bad just can't seem to get many wins in her which is making the grind difficult.  Tier 10 matches and radar don't help but I feel like I'd rather be in my LIGHTNING at tier 10 than the JUTLAND, even with the heal.

Anyone else having the same issue? Ideas on how to play her???

I played it 24 times grinding towards the Daring, 46% wr and 100k and 2 kills my best game. Not very impressive to say the least. now that I am scrolling through my Daring and Lightning results, I may be the worst British DD player in the game. I can't help, even though I wanted too. I suck at these things.

I felt the same way moving to the Lighting, went from a 70% winrate to 40%.

It took a number of games to get feel for the Lighting, and I'm sure it will be the same on the Daring.

Do you have IFHE? If not get it as soon as possible.

 

Jutland is a moderately different ship, you lose a little bit of concealment and handling but get a bump in firepower and torpedoes. You have to pick fights wisely, look for destroyers to hunt if they're isolated/pushing, look for islands to shoot from if the situation calls for it, or go torpedo-boating/spotting if necessary.

My key advice would be to try and stick near the action, at 34kt you're not going to chase that red Shimakaze to the outer reaches of the map at all well. Find a cap to fight for.

Spend the FXP to do all the upgrades, the extra gun may seem minor, but the power of the boat comes from landing as many hits as fast as possible.

Great advice - It's not just the extra gun, it's going from 5.9 to 4.2s rudder shift, and 14,800 to 18,400 HP is massive too.

The Jutland A hull is pretty woeful, even by the standards of T9 stock grinds.

I’m fully upgraded & running a 14 point captain w/IFHE which helps. Just not enjoying her as much as I thought I would.

I have found T9 and T10 more punishing in the Brit DDs than I found T7 and T8. I wonder if it's just the greater numbers of radar boats, and generally better play more than the boats being bad. I find my Gearing and Z-52 more miserable to play than Daring.

The only T10 I haven't found to be miserable (outside of Co-op,) is my escort spec'd Groz.

OP. I'm having exactly the same issues with that ship. I won all the DD's in containers (yes drew my wallet for that). And I had a blast in them. Jutland however? I can't make that thing to work even if my life is depending on it and I don't get it either. The 360 guns should be an advantage. If I could hit anything. The slightest indirect hit costs me 75% HP. In the most optimal scenario. Getting caught by a random torp spread? Too bad: I should have made the appointment to turn left or right 14 days ago. Yes the rudder shift is great but that blasted ship won't slow down when needed. Jeej! I have hydro. Too bad: then the appointment shoudl have been made 13 days ago. I recently got kicked out of the realm of sucking with it because I was too bad to stay there.

The way I somewhat made it to function-ish is to see it as a mid to late match ship. In the beginning scout for the team and hope they'll shoot at anything. Regarding the inertia fuse matter: IFHE will pen BB superstructure where normal HE won't (and some other freak rare spots on cruisers for that matter but I'll neglect those exceptions). The AP is very, very nasty though. Don't be shy to use it even against DD's in a knife fight. Provided they give enough [edited] (broadside). Also on short range against BB's ([edited] rule applying too); of course at their upper belt and SS. The smoke is too short to make a nice pewpew opportunity. For me it's an escape method in most of the cases.

But still I am hating that ship more and more. I'm really anxious for Daring, if I lost my way to that one. Afraid it'll be a 1 match played ship to rot besides my Yamato for eternity. That tent over the bridge somehow doesn't reduce my anxiety for Daring....

 

If for 1 thing I'd happily trade that pathetic heal (healing me back from 200 to 400 hp after one accidental HE hit) for a speed boost.

 

tl;dr. I hate it too. I'll let you know if I figure out a way. So far stumbling and suffering through it.

You’re not alone. I did great in the Lighting then I got the Jutland and hit a brick wall. I climb back up to a 49% winrate but the ship is a struggle, I was as low as 27% winrate at one time in it. I have IFHE and it still struggles. The Jutland/Daring DDs seem like big disappointments. They need too many skills to just break even competively and it leaves no room for variation of play. Have a 19 point captain or go home and they still feel inadequate.
