Not that I never believed anyone but I also didn't know what to expect from a stock ship, and I have to say i'm loving it as much as I loved the Alabama. Makes me hope I get Big Mammy from the Black Friday crates so I can personally see how that's like too. Also makes me look forward to Iowa. That said I have to give credit to where credit is due. Half the damage I got would like have not happened were it not for my little pan-asian escort giving me openings and keeping the reds on their toes.

A pretty good first battle never the less.

NC was my first Tier VIII ship.  I didn't really appreciate her at the time until I left her and went onto Iowa who at that time, had a citadel as tall as a skyscraper.  I also like a moron, tried in my first Iowa game to Knife Fight a North Carolina.

"Iowa vs NC!  I'll put that Tier VIII in its place!"

Wrong.

North Carolina charged, angled, bounced my shells, got to one of my sides, citadeled me twice on my left flank.

My turrets never could catch up and I tried to turn and help speed the traverse.

North Carolina simply maintained full speed and maneuvered BEHIND AND TO MY RIGHT OF MY IOWA, and citadeled me from the right, killing me.

Only during the initial NC charge were my guns staring at NC.  NC dances circles.  The scary part is the SoDaks are even more maneuverable, because they turn like the USN Standard BBs, but have NC's speed to help out.

It's pretty nice. Now I just need a few CV games to see how effective the stock and B hull's AA is. When I eventually get it. Already a lot better than Colorado that's for sure, haha. But when the Colorado works, the Colorado works. I still don't look forward to seeing how well I tank Musashi or Richelieu though, least i'm used to Richelieu penning me everywhere anyways.

Never could get NC to work like everyone says; apparently I’m the odd duck out.

Loved Colorado, and still do; but NC pretty much hasn’t left my port since I gave up trying with it.

I did OK in her, but she was never a favorite of mine, especially after I got Alabama. Now I have Massachussetts as well and have sold my NC out. No real hurt as I demounted everything on her and used it to oufit the other two, and she never had a premium cammo while I had her. so no loss there either. I loved the long range instant deletes against cruisers. Salt flowed in large quantities every time I managed it....

You're not the only one. NC feels like I'm playing a bigger New Mexico. After playing Colorado and getting used to simply hitting what I'm aiming at it's rather jarring going back to a shotgun style of play. Yes, NC is more accurate than NM, but it still feels more like a shotgun. It does hit hard, though, when it does hit.

I hate to be that guy, but I feel compelled.  The North Carolina is not a Nor Cal.  Nor Cal is Northern California.  There is no Cal in Carolina.  I'm sorry for the grammar nazi'ing, but I can't help it.

No harm done. I can see the mistake so my apologizes to everyone, heh. Speaking of which would still like to see California added to the game. Though I guess would be silly to have so many T-VI US BBs.

Think she is good in game? You should look at her in person. One of the most well kept museum ships in the country.

Couldn't help but apply a tilt shift to that image.

Looks to be in great condition. I'll definitely have to visit sometime.

You miss the game in NC 2 years ago. When everything is most likely rare, no german bb or british bb, not many t10 around. All at slow pace leveling up. That ship really shine the most.

Maybe not; after Missou, ‘bama, and Mammie, I just haven’t tried it again.

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). I love the Colorado, but dear lord I could never get the NC to work for me. No matter how I angled it felt like anything could rip chunks out of my HP. And it's guns... *shudder* Needless to say though I am very happy in my beautiful Montana which has definitely made up for the horrors I experienced in that ship.

Can't wait to get the NC.  Former Tarheel myself.  But before I finished the New Mex, I was tired of the bog slow USN BB's.  And now I have the Colorado.  Haven't even ground the hull upgrade and I'm tired of it.  Colorado is missing something.  What could it be?

As an unrelated aside, I used to (lost it in hurricane Ike) have one of those unopened "Cardiac Pack" cola cans that came out after they won the championship under Jimmy V.

North Carolina, I think people have issues at first with (I did) is the speed of the ship and finding that build that suits you. For me it is concealment, and getting into that sweet spot of 12-14km from an unsuspecting target and opening up on it.  But it took me a while to learn her and to get what felt good to me.
