Hey guys/gals,

Wanted to just point this out as Im really getting tired of joining Inactive Clans or Clans where the playerbase within the clan dont give you the time of day to talk to you off their discord channel. I honestly dont know why its such a big problem for me, maybe its cause these people have already established deep friendship circles and shun anyone whos new to them.

Theres been many times where I ask to be in a clan or ask a recruiter to join a clan that sounded cool (Whether Anime Themed or historical) and only the recruiter person talks to me and then after a couple months. Nothing. All alone again. Now i dont know if this is a big problem for  other people out there. But theres only been one clan out there who treated me right for awhile but sadly im not to big of a forumite. (starting to slowly) Its just this community can be cool but yet really cruel most times. Im trying my best here. Now this is turned more into a rant more than i would like. I just want to have a nice discussion or level headed replies.

I just dont see the point of clans anymore, or maybe im just destined to be a lone wolf. Ive been trying to join one for almost a year and a half now with the same results over and over. its like groundhog day. I would start my own clan but i dont have the extra funds for it. And im also afraid it will be the same thing later down the line of inactivity or people forming their own clicks and ignoring everyone else. Ive been trying to find a clan with a cool name but to no luck :/ Pretty much at this point im just looking for a clan with an active community, doesn't adhere to their clicks, and willing to let the new guy/gal become one of them.

Anyways, ill leave it to you guys now. What do you think, how can this be fixed? Please leave the insults towards me at the door if you can. As always, thank you for listening guys and thanks for the replies in advance.

Hang in there mate.  If you write like this I am sure someone somewhere would love to have you in their ranks.

Also, you have a solid win rate...not sure why clans would not want you in their ranks.  That said, active play every day and requests to be on competitive rosters will help you build a network of folks to div and play with...who may even want to win.

Keep looking, don't only rely on clans for socializing and support, various discords offer support for both solo and clan players. Here are a few :

https://discord.gg/PpbtQR WOWS NA discord (the oldest discord server for WOWS NA, maybe)

https://discord.gg/jP3TQc NA server alliance (small, but friendly)

https://discord.gg/uKF2vN Clan Embassy (also a good place to start looking for clans)

and there are many more. Clans are not necessary to find people to div with, they can make it easier, and more attractive (via their clan bonuses), but there is a big world outside clans too.

‘Clicks’ s/b ‘cliques.’ (Sorry, Mom was an English teacher.)

I’m a bit of the opposite.

Joined a Clan because someone I’ve known for 25+ years asked me too; and I very rarely try to talk to anyone but him.

Similar though in not really understanding the point of Clans in the first place.

Months? Sounds like your waiting on others to involve you. Find a couple clans you are interested in, join their discords and involve yourself in the conversation. People that join our discord but then never interact are not the people I ask to adivision with when I get a chance to play.

The Syndicate discord is open to all, links in my signature.

I can understand some of your pain OP. Been invited to numerous clans, they are usually quiet or non active. I’m old school in my gaming habits so the clans that are active almost(in my observation) always require discord. I prefer texting in chat and I’m someone that will not use discord due to the time I play and it’s quiet time in the household(I usually mute the game). Hang in there, being a solo player isn’t half bad!

I'll have to second joining large NA discords, they seem to be more active than the forums, as well as providing an easy way to check who's tentatively a weeb or not.

Remember there are lots of clans that were formed not as social groups but to farm the rewards that clans get without actually having to do the whole "clan thing". NA has a lot of solo player clans so make sure you check with them before joining if you are looking for a more social experience.

ONAVY's only requirement is that you play semi regular...looks like you have that covered. We use Ventrilo or Discord for chat. You are welcome to come check us out. I do notice that many people join a clan and they themselves never say a word in port/chat even in our clan we have some like that and we know people are different but you think in a clan environment people would want to be social. That said we do have a great group of regulars that play clan battles and Div up all the time. That's the best part about this game is working as a team to kill the enemy. Having fun while doing it is what makes a multiplayer game worth while. Most of us are older and many are retired military but all are welcome with us...we encourage kill stealing in a match so long as the enemy dies lol...we laugh about that all the time. Hope to see you out there...tonight actually we are looking to have a clan match up but like you said it is hard even finding clans that want to do this.

If I may , I'd like to suggest that perhaps you should take a more active and forceful role in the socialization process. I run Wolf9. We are a Lone Wolves chapter, in other words, a clan for people who want the clan benefits without the clan [edited]. We do not require participation in clan wars, though members are welcome to do so, nor do we require voice comms, but we do have a discord server for those who wish to use it. When a new member joins I announce them on the bulletin board. Whoever is online and not in battle will usually say hello.

Here is where the more active part comes in for you. Strike up a conversation, ask to division with another player. You will most likely find that you end up with different acquaintances at different times because everyone has a different schedule. The cliques that form, generally do so when several players find they have compatible schedules. Pick a clan, join a clan, and then be sociable. Introduce yourself on the bulletin board. Tell people what ships you play, and when you play them, mention your hobbies or outside interests, in short, talk to people. You have to give them a reason to see you as a person and not just another screen name. Do also bear in mind, not everyone is there to socialize. Some players have limited time and are all business when they get a chance to play. It is nothing personal against you, they are just focused on their game play. Others are the quintessential internet introverts and are uncomfortable speaking to anyone that didn't give birth to them.

The point of all this is, that it sounds like what you want out of a clan is socialization. The way to get that is to be sociable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you never know until you try.

Well i mean i guess, I am assertive when i talk to ppl but always get talked over or just completely ignored which was the point of this article. But yeah i have noticed that people are hardcore introverts and just dont want to talk to people.

Which in turn is causing me not to talk to people as i find it pointless. But you guys on here proved that wrong. the hardest thing to do is talk to break the ice for a couple weeks.

So far clans here seem odd to me.  I've soloed off and on in WOWS because I was very used to clans in other games having a web presence and using VoIP for very regular communication but here I cant seem to fins something that fits. One clan in WOWS that said it was "casual" but folks were always fighting and restrictive and sort of seemed to forget that this is a game, so I left. Then I joined another and they had no website, coms,  or anything that made them a cohesive group. Time and time I posted in chat and literally no one ever responded. To me some socialization is the reason you don't go solo so I saw little value in being with that clan over the months so i'm solo again. It seems to me that you either get clans with drama or you get the direct opposite where its a ghost town. Isn't there a happy medium? A place to just play, have fun, and [edited] with adults sans power-trips and stat snobs?

I believe the age of the average player in this game is dictating the manner of clan administration.  Older generations can't be bothered with all that technology.  I didn't find it hard to find clans that had all eye candy such as web sites/discord/event calendars.  So those clans are here too.. Most just want you to email them....

however,

My clan is running bare bones. We use the in game chat and message board to coordinate.  As the commander I have found that keeping the clan active is a little work.  It's not just invites.

If you are interested in joining a growing clan, then consider TKS. (On the NA server).  We are building our clan to become competitive. Our clan members are fairly active and to learning the game as a team. We are now up to running two clan battle teams at the same time (milestone).

In response to your post directly.  The clans serve a purpose for information discemination. My clan mates benefit from each other about game tactics, strategy, upcoming events, and even in game codes and discounts. CB also give the chance for teams of people to bring their teamwork together without having to break random battles. Clans are a good thing for WG and the players. Plus clan perks are nice to have.

Ahoy, Whine_Moar!

TSG4 is recruiting.... and looking for a few good ship captains to join us!  Tactical Strike Group 4 is a veteran founded, veteran owned and veteran operated military-style gaming organization that encompasses and combines various functions, organizational structures and practices from multiple military branches.
