I know submariners are famed for thinking there are only 2 types of ships, submarines and targets. However after playing the Halloween event, I disagree.

I, for one, am looking forward to our new pre-sinkable cannon fodder.  I may be wierd and I enjoy playing against the paper rock scissors mechanics but who doesn't like to charge distracted cruisers with their destroyers?

The submarines have several easily exploited vulnerabilities and I look forward to matches with them. Any one who can count to 120 should have an easy time.   What ways are you looking forward to going full "The Enemy Below" on them.

Me, I'm going to get a bigger boat, rack the 16" with H.E. for close encounters and give them 1 ping and 1 ping only.   What are your thoughts?

That their implementation, if approved, could go either very good or VERY wrong. And it puts yet another task on Destroyers which already have to do nearly everything in a battle. If subs are going to be here to stay, there is going to have to be a MASSIVE shift in roles for each ship type to spread the workload

Personally, I'm hoping for a fun ASW mechanic as well. With CV's soon to have only 1 active squadron, spotter planes will become very handy, too.

I would say CVs may be just as responsible for hunting and killing subs as dds are. Many cruisers have depth charge racks and rails installed as well. Hopefully those are implemented and takes up some of that load. I would assume some bbs will have asw modules they can equip.

Imo we should be completely historically correct. That means you can bomb the port of whichever Tier VIII+  sub you encounter to simulate the bombing of sub pens.

Fun and trolling aside, and this has been told time and time again, Subs in their operation form are proof of concept. You can model them, you can fire torps at surface targets and use a depth mechanic. From going there, to going to full on PvP mode with subs being able to sink subs and be sunk by surface ships in return there is a long way to go. Personally I would like to see subs, but filling a nice niche in the Operations department. Would save alot of rebalance for PvP as well.

I'd like to see the role of scout and recon shifted from destroyers to submarines, this would give them a job to do which would have some historical precedent and let the destroyers relax a little bit

I completely agree. Subs could make an excellent companion to destroyers.

Yes especially now that DDs are limited to 4 or less per team.

Who says they have to? I can very easily see submarines as a specialist class that stakes a claim to an area of operation and provides scouting and area denial, then in late game can wolfpack to finish off the stragglers. You also have to keep in mind that it isn't a race across the map. Ships tend to only go so far before circling back or finding a defensive position giving submarines plenty of time to catch up, wade into the battle and hunt distracted ships. Beyond that submarines might also add a whole new layer to the game in terms of how people play. Cruiser captains have to decide if they want to set their ship and captains up for AA or DDs. Imagine if CVs and DDs had to make a similar decision. Captain skills, modules, and munitions...there's a lot of options for customization which will effect the roles and actions of ships in a match.

Says Wargaming, they gave DDs recently a soft limit of 4 DDs per team in Randoms and Co-Op of MM permits it, so at high Server population times you will see 4 or less DDs on a time.

But if you play at night when server pop is low and que time’s are threatening to be longer then they allow the limit of 4 per team to be a little more flexible.

only modern subs, in which case, if they want you, theres not much you can do. older subs were very vulnerable. With modern subs, you'd be lucky to retaliate.

Except the subs as implemented by wg resemble modern subs than the era of this game. No sub back than could go 32 knots on the surface let alone underwater.

Sets money aside for a suitable Submarine premium, so long as their development isn't at the cost of the CV rework.
