Clan Battle Tactic: AA Cruiser CV Escort

Curious if clans employ an AA cruiser as escort for their CV.

The strategy's nature and benefits are pretty obvious, but just so there's no confusion: a cruiser with Defensive Fire, good AA ratings and with an AA spec escorts the friendly CV and protects it from enemy CV alpha strikes and from the enemy DD's that will eventually find and sink her. This takes guns away from the "front line" but if the friendly CV survives while the enemy CV is destroyed by our side, then our side would seem to have a big advantage.

I am prepared for the answer, "CV pop is so low, few/none CV players in our clan". Perhaps the CV rework will change this.

What are your thoughts, clan strategists?

Some clans just dont take a CV so they don't have to worry about escorting one and just escort each other to a single cap to get out flanked.

As how clan battles are now, the answer is no. CVs are not included in that game mode.

CVs have never been allowed into clan battles, this will change in the future, post rework.

Good job, you now have a cruiser that's utterly useless the entire game.

Didn't know CVs were not allowed, ftm, in clan battles. But if they were to be one day, perhaps they may not be as useless as you suggest.

Good job on the salt. Salt is an important characteristic in a clan recruitment officer.

There are good reasons why CV's are not included in clan battles:

1. T10 CV's are a BB/CA's worst nightmare. Especially the Harkuryu with 3 TBD's and 2 DB squadrons.

2. They're bad enough at random 12 vs 12. Now try imagining having them in a 6 vs 6 situation.

3. The CB matches will be determined on who is the better CV player when CV's are involved.

So for those reasons, CV's were not included in CB.  Possible to be included when rework is done. But unlikely.

King of the Sea player here.  We have 9v9 with CV battles.

No the CV mostly looks after themselves with their own DF, fighters, and positioning.  A CV going for a snipe in KOTS has pretty much surrendered the game do to a lack of spotting, and a lack of air control over their team since the CV's fighters need to run interference for the snipe.

AA CA/CL do play a critical role in creating no fly zones around caps to permit DDs to cap in relative safety.

Another misplay is a DD hunting the CV in most cases.  High tier CV can again look after themselves, and in the time it takes a DD to gun or torp a CV the DD should have been cross dropped at least once, probably twice.

If you are interested in learning about valid strats look at the King of the Sea streams here:

Streams are down but go to the Twitch page and watch past videos

For clan battles you can look at youtube videos for players in Hurricane level teams.  I have Hurricane CB games up on my channel for example.  The link is below in my signature.  Looking up teams in the clan area of the game you can get a list of names to search for.
