Can’t Wait For Subs...Stop Tier IX and X Bb Camping

I’m excited for subs. It will add a role for destroyers and some cruisers. It will also stop the all too common habit of high tier BBs camping at the edge of their range.

I've always kinda laughed when people say "X change will make BBs camp more". these people hugging the map edge are not going to stop, and people who are competent wont start. In the history of this game there has never been a patch where someone hasnt said it. How long before they just accept that these people are going to camp regardless of changes.

Nothing has stopped Battleships from camping the back of the map. Destroyers with Deep Water torpedoes didn't. Carriers aren't stopping them. And I doubt Subs will stop them. Thats assuming the Subs can make it past the gauntlet of Radar and Hydro ships that will be screening those campers. 

Heck the whole point of the aSassyho destroyer and its "only hits Battleships and Carriers deeper water torpedoes" was to punish Camping Battleships. But that ship is rare and next to useless for the team its on.

The only thing WG has add to the game that made Battleships move forward and attack the caps was that "Spot [X] number of Destroyers" Campaign task. Because when the BBs were getting rewarded for pushing they pushed.

It's even worse than that. WG markets these worthless gimmick botes like subs and Asashio using the pretext that they will stop BBs camping/reduce the BB population. But actually these ships won't work without a robust population of BBs that camp. The factors that make BBs camp are far stronger than an occasional torp from an Asashio.

when i play my asashio i will intentionally pass up pushing BBs to get the ones in the back. just because im spiteful...

I agree with the OP. The only players that will end up whining about subs will be those BB who hug those islands at the back of the map. You know the ones. The ones there at the end of the game complaining about how bad their team was (clearly they have nothing better to use their hands for, like point and shoot) - and end up on the bottom of the damage dealt charts. 

Everybody else will actually be moving, therfore making themselves difficult targets.

OP, you are wrong. it won't stop but some BB's have to campo because of the BB they are drivign. the Izmzo is not a pushign BB so I do what I can from   the rear. i na Missouri I push.

Short of making the maps small and teams spawning 10km in front of the other team, you'll never stop Camping BBs.

Nerfs to Torps, esp. IJN Torps.

Still camp.

Removal of Stealth Fire.

Still camp.

Flat fee for post-battle servicing no matter how much damage you've taken.

Still camp.

The introduction of more and more mega secondaries BBs... LOL I see them camping at 18km :Smile_veryhappy:

Non-CV match.

Still camp.

You seem to have mistakenly posted an image where you and your div mate are behind a battleship.  This does not support your argument.

It was a mess.  Both DDs loaded in just fine. One spawned northwest, one was middle north spawn.  The one out west took its time moving and never once got near the E-Line.  The other that was in the mid spawn SLOWLY advanced towards Cap B and then once at D6, decided to go to Cap A.  My Henri IV and Hindy were out east.  The rest of the team was a total mess.  My Div Mate in the Mino was trying to help the DDs at Cap A because that was the weak side of the enemy team.  The idea was to break the DDs open out at Cap A, secure it, and attack the reds from that direction.  But it was hopeless.  You know it's bad when there's a DD perma-spotting you and a MISSOURI got towards E10 and was lobbing shells at us like a US Cruiser would :Smile_veryhappy:

 

It was a slaughter.  The guys you saw out clustered in the center up north would all die in that area.  Circling around, circling around expecting the weak forces of the team out in the west or east to salvage the situation.

Yeah because a Cruiser needs to be out in front to tank for you dumb BBs, right?

Yah, some games are just inevitable cluster f's. Ill give it my best, but the loss is inevitable.

Subs actually will be a little different than say the Asashio, the DWT on Asashio can hurt DDs or CAs so it’s incapable of doing anything to any ship besides BBs or CVs. And the Asashio can be picked up with radar or hydro, or spotted if it gets close enough. So I will hold off my opinion if subs will stop anything, but will be interesting to see.

Subs will be able to hurt any ship, quite likely not be picked up by Radar when submerged, and if submerged will not be able to be harmed by the camping BBs. Now if the BB plays agressively like I play BBs then they can done attacks and move with escorts on front lines. Which means the subs will be in great danger of Depth Charges and hydro. That is why I am fine with the idea of subs is becUse I don’t sit isolated far in the back sniping on my BBs.

So Subs may or may not be effective against skilled teams, but may be a fun weekend or holiday weapon lol.

Cruisers and Destroyers are the torpedo screen for the battleships, so it's not to tank, it's to reveal torpedoes, to allow the sluggish battleship enough time to avoid said torpedoes.

Sounds nice on paper but in reality, a Cruiser out in front is a BB AP Pinata.  Especially in High Tier.

You're right, all BBs should push into IFHE spam, a dozen smoke clouds, swarms of torpedoes, and the concentrated fire of other, smarter battleship players who don't play like morons. 

How about you just worry about playing your own ship well, k?

I'm just going to skip all the responses and tell you how subs will affect BBs.

 

BBs will be even more stationary. They will hang back relying on their escorts even more. You think BBs are going to sail forward and enter a kill zone of a submarine that (reportedly) has a 90 second invis ability? HA!

The amount of insanely pro submarine commentary on this forum distresses me. I almost hope they release the kind of submarines you want cause the ship style itself is so broken....and combined with AA......I'm done spending money on this game till I see how it's going.

"Subs can stop them" are you serious? Us carriers players already pummel battleships who hang back because they have no support. Even Cruisers who hang in the back are no exceptions and they get deleted in one go. What makes you think "Subs" will do anything different.

Yea... this is going to only make them camp more. No reason for them to get any closer to the slow subs than they spawn.  They will just go in reverse instead.

Not to mention the new CV rework makes battleships CAMP EVEN MORE lol considering how much planes we have now.
