I have played 5 straight games in TRANSYLVANIA and all 5 games were losses.

I am done with this [edited] mode. 

Why keep playing if you never win?

Get some friends and run it as a 7 man division, it is pretty hard considering the overall low skill level of the player base to get seven people who have never played together to be successful. In a 7 man division with friends communicating in teamspeak or discord it is pretty easy.

I played three games, one each in the battleship, cruiser and destroyer. Won the last one, even if I did not survive. So it is possible with random teams. You just have to know what to do, and sometimes that requires losing a few times to learn where all the enemies are coming from and where/how to anticipate them.

I don't know which one, the first one, this is my first 5 games.  I can't win at all let alone with any STARS.

I can see it's easy in a platoon, but random players just don't know how to do an ESCORT mission.  Last game we had all 7 ships still alive but most lagging behind ship not protecting it. 

The game before that 3 ships actually stopped to engage the enemy and could never catch back up so we only had 4 playing the game. 

It's really [edited] on WG's part to have the escort ships so slow they can't catch back up easily. 

 

It could be the early morning NOOB situation so I guess I will try back after lunch.

The tier 3 one is really easy, even with some randoms. The other is much trickier to 5star even with a full squad. But that's cool, its way more fun thanks to the challenge.

Not to me.

My time is precious. 

These operations should be winnable at least 50% of the time and 5 star them a third of the time or I won't waste my time playing them.

Did the Tier III one for the first time ever last night.  Got 4 stars. 

Complete random team. 

Did not seem too difficult.

I managed one four star and two three stars in 15 runs or so. The biggest issue is with the Blades, they run ahead, forget to smoke Transylvania and are easy fodder for Catapults/Rasputin. After that the rest just crumbles.

Last year, this op was one of those that people struggled a lot with at first due to lack of familiarity.  Eventually PUGs were completing it regularly.  Not necessarily 5 stars, but completion eventually was expected on typical runs.

 

However, this year is different.  Save Transylvania will only be Op of the Week until October 24, which then switches to Sunray In The Darkness.

Last year, this Op stayed up for regular queuing for a long time, so the guys got good with it.  That will not be the case this year.  Once the 24th hits, the only way to play this is Divisions.  Then people are off trying to get used to Sunray In The Darkness for 1 week before the switch to Terror of the Deep.

Got 4 stars on the second try with randoms. It is winnable. Just in chat calmly telling the team to stay together and with the objective ship. They may listen.

That's because certain ships are for certain roles.

Jackals (BBs) are slow but strong, they should always been out front destroying catapults and Zikasas. Don't let them lag behind, and if you have, get all the ships out of the circle as that slows down Trans.

Blade's are faster, let them polish off straggling Zikasas. Remember, escort doesn't mean every ship has to maintain close cover - each ship has a role, and some are more flexible than others.

 

With any kind of coordination, the tier III mission (getting her to the portal) is really easy - and it can be done without coordination even, although with greater difficulty.

 

The later tier VIII mission is much more difficult. My clan 5-starred in the first time, won again with less stars iirc, and then failed.

 

It's not easy even with decent teamwork. But that makes it more fun - walkovers are boring.

I have 2 wins 1 4 star 1 5 star. They were both flukes of luck. But in the 5 star I found myself in the cruiser pinned up against the Transylv and unable to turn but able to blast away at the siskas and catapults all the while keeping the Transylv moving and on course and then able to join in focus fire on Rasputin.

I played it three times yesterday. 5 star win in the battleship, three star win in the cruiser, and loss in the DD. So maybe you just got bad luck in randoms. As I said before get some friends....makes the game a lot easier.

There is the problem.  You shouldn't need friends to complete missions.  If it is too hard for the average player, then tone down the difficulty.  There is hard mode for a reason, grab some friends.

 The guys in Hoperations on Discord went ham on both Transylvania and Sunray last night.

The Trans 5 star we only had 5 in the Div, lost our only DD, a Pubbie, midway through as well. I was running a speed signal on a BB and got a good lead on Trans. Triggered the BBs early and spotted the Cats. Trans didnt take a single point of damage.

 Sunray we 5 stared on our 2nd run with a full div. Most of us had never played together before last night. @Falcor93 did an outstanding job of playing caller for coordinating consumables. We had 3 BBs in the filth the entire match but our coordinated heals made sure we were never in danger of dying. As always @HazeGrayUnderway was fantastic as well.

The problem currently is that so few people trying the scenario out realize that each ship has specific roles that are vital to success.

For example, the bbs must always focus towers first as they can easily kill them with one salvo. Cruisers really should just be fire starters, once they get a bb lit, move on to the next one, rinse and repeat. DDs always at the lead sending out torp spam and be in a position to smoke up the Transylvania or any badly damaged allies. Most important for the BB and the cruisers is that they must be ahead of Trans coming to the end so they can soak up damage else Rasputin will anihilate her.

The three fails I've had out of about nine tries were as a result of players not sticking to the above.

The last one (I played a dd) the other dd was at the back trying to torp the trailing bb spawn, our three bbs only shot at the enemy bbs leaving the one cruiser to try and take down the catapults.

I here for ya....15 battles and one win...a 4 star miracle. Will have to catch the submarines some other time and place. Ya Im done with Halloween at WOWS

It is not too hard for the average player, the problem is there are a lot of WWWWAAAAYYYYY below average players out there and if you get two on your team of 7 you are going to lose. We had an idiot in a cruiser who just yoloed the catapults and battleships and was dead in the first 4 minutes of the match. If you have seven teammates who play reasonably and competently it is a EASY 5 star win. Get some friends, one or two where you can communicate on teamspeak or discord it makes the mission that much easier.

Let me tell ya, from personal experience, you can have way below average players on your team and still win.

While I haven't got that elusive 5th star my win rate is on par with Aegis, which I think is the easiest scenario.  However random teams can result in several losses in a row. I find weekend evenings the worse.

Yep, I was lucky that there was a shot caller in my mission. He told the BB's where to be, told the cruisers and DD's what they needed to do. It was a random and we got a 5 star victory on the first try of the day. 

What I see a lot in the current Warships community is that players don't seem to care about roles, objectives, all they want to do is their own thing and it doesn't seem to matter to them that it is the wrong thing most of the time.

If most of the ships have fell behind, then the wise move is to let Transylvania stop so they could catch up.  Give up that one star to increase chance for a win
