With the advent of subs in the game, seems apropos to mention the WRNS (Women's Royal Navy Service) of the WATU, a group of young women who were instrumental in defeating the German Wolfpacks. The WATU would run war game simulations in a big room, and the ladies would take information from interviews from escort commanders, run simulations which determined what U-boat tactics were, and develop a counter. They would also take tactics developed in the field and run them to test their effectiveness and improve upon them if need be.

The WATU also ran naval commanders through training simulations to disseminate the current tactics. They also had U-boat commander players who tried to defeat the tactics and see how the German commanders might evolve in the field.

A little known but significant contribution to the victory in the Atlantic
