Maybe it'll be an alternate route or something, hope it won't be a premium ship though, cause that would suck.

355 American_Admiralty Alpha Tester 1,015 posts 464 battles Report post #10 Posted March 2, 2015 21 knots for all the tiers except for 1, 8, 9, and 10...yep, that alone tells you it's American BBs xD. I've been playing cruisers so much that when I play the American BBs I am going to faint, forget the speed of them since I only really played the Iowa class in Battlestations: Pacific. Still looking forward to them though.

Maybe it'll be an alternate route or something, hope it won't be a premium ship though, cause that would suck. When the USN designers were drawing up plans for the S. Dakota class, they were having so much trouble trying to decide if the ship should be fast, or armored, or sport big guns, all within certain design parameters. There were many arguments, headaches, hassles, and compromises for the S. Dakota class. I'm not surprised that WG was probably having a hard time trying to figure out where to place this ship within the tree.

39 DirtyDonky Beta Testers 208 posts 904 battles Report post #16 Posted March 2, 2015 The trees are very disappointing, and aside from not implementing the South Dakotas, the Iowas were capable of 32 1/2 knots... not 27. Not sure why WG feels the need to nerf the US BB's so hard out the gate, especially after giving us such slow BB's to start with.

39 DirtyDonky Beta Testers 208 posts 904 battles Report post #19 Posted March 2, 2015 Where did you hear that the Iowas were going to be 27 knts? Quoted from the news article: VIII North Carolina This battleship has a little less armor compared to Colorado, but she gained maneuverabilitymaneuverability instead. The increased speed of 27 knots allows USS North Carolinato act in a tactical formation with aircraft carriers and cruisers, and be more fast and agile in a battle. Powerful auxiliary armament is one of this ship’s strengths. She carries a battery of 5in (127mm) dual-purpose guns that are perfect to fight off light ships and enemy aviation. IX Iowa Engineering solutions used in USS North Carolina were further elaborated in USS Iowa. Iowa is a powerful and high-speed battleship capable of fighting in mobile task forces together with aircraft carriers and cruisers. The ship managed to maintain the same excellent speed and increase her defence and armor.

Iowa is a powerful and high-speed battleship capable of fighting in mobile task forces together with aircraft carriers and cruisers. The ship managed to maintain the same excellent speed and increase her defence and armor. I highlighted the part that's most important. This means that the North Carolina's designs were improved upon. If the passage said, "Engineering solutions used in N. Carolina were emphasized in USS Iowa." Then the speed would be the same as the N. Carolina. The way it was worded can be easily confused but I can assure you that the Iowa is going to be faster then the N. Carolina. Hope this helps! 39 DirtyDonky Beta Testers 208 posts 904 battles Report post #21 Posted March 2, 2015 And to be fair, North Carolina could make 28 knots, not 27.

I think you misunderstood that WG is comparing Iowa to North Carolina in terms of speed when referring to the "same excellent speed", then mentions the improvements of defense and armor. Since the article was written via translation from Russian, I'm pretty sure that when he/she wrote "Maintain the same excellent speed," they forgot to write into the profile, like "maintain the same excellent speed of the carriers." In the past, these articles have had little blips of missing yet crucial info that have caused alot of confusion in the past. This wouldnt be the first time, at this point we're splitting hairs.
