He was an amazing guy. Withstood what would break most men, came back physically broken but mentally and spiritually stout, and then devoted his life to serving in public office, because he believed that was the best way to help this great nation.

The world is worse off for his passing.

I respect that he kept to his opinions, even those were often different from the mainstream of his party.

He overcame the hardships in his life and showed dignity to the end.

If you want the definition of a true American, look no further. Character counts.

Here in Phoenix and the rest of Arizona the sense of loss is almost palatable and very deep.

RIP Sir.

A Naval Aviator; a War Veteran; a POW, a National Hero for enduring repeated torture so that he never again was able to lift his arms above a certain height and could not use a keyboard for long periods of time leaving him computer illiterate, and stayed with other POW despite being offered release; a Statesman and a Senator in the best sense of the words.

He will be sorely missed.

Even if you didn't agree with everything he did or what political beliefs, there is little doubt that he loved his country and sacrificed much in the service to it.

One must also admire his commitment to his values, even going against his party and/or supporters at times to remain faithful to the virtues he held dear.

I wish him a better place, free from the sufferings—inflicted by both man and nature—that he endured for so long.

May we all seek to live up to the standards he followed as a human being and a patriot, and to honor his legacy.

McCain evolved his personal beliefs over the years to become an even better public servant.

As an Arizona native I always liked and respected John McCain despite any political issues. He served my state and country faithfully and will be missed by both. Rest In Peace sir you will be missed but never forgotten.

I would encourage anyone who can, and who live in Arizona, to pay their respects to Senator John McCain tomorrow on Wednesday 08/29/2018 when he lies in state at the Arizona Capitol Building. The public viewing will begin at 1PM local time until 8pm
