Ever wonder why your eyes get tired so much faster while playing WOWS? In fact, World of Warships is arguably one of the most eye-straining video games in the market, as players stare at a blue ocean for most of the gameplay. For those interested in the background, here is an excerpt from Slothygeek explaining the science and health behind it:

Some ideas for an in-game setting that changes the color of the ocean for improved eye health:

1) Tropical (lighter blue and further away from UVA) ocean 1:

2) Tropical (crystal light gray) ocean 2:

3) Tropical (green) ocean 3:

You can get a special monitor screen if you play WOWS a lot. There are such monitors that incorporate newest generation eye health friendly technology that greatly mitigates the eye-straining effect of staring at a blue ocean. Here is a quick screenshot from Amazon talking about ASUS WQHD monitor with ASUS Eye Care Technology:

The main setback, of course, is that any monitor screen with such technology is going to be ridiculously more expensive than normal monitors.

The ocean in WOWS is not always blue. In fact, it can range from amber to slate gray. These are from Forum Funnies but check out the ocean color in the background.

The 'blue' light is much closer to white on the spectrum, it's part of the backlighting. So, it's not ocean colors that are the problem.

Secondly, the research is not even close to showing the blue light causes problems in humans.

Third, if you're really worried, go buy some Gunnar glasses, or one of the off brands of same (Around $20.00). Some monitors and phones have a 'blue light filter' setting that can help as well.

Finally, as of now there is no credible research saying there is actually a problem.

Good observation. I say "Paint it black. Black as night. Black as coal".....or however those lyrics go.  I forget.  I forget a lot these days.

I'm still waiting to be able to change the white parts of the UI for maps such as islands of ice, etc.

I'm waiting for the ice to melt because I hide behind icebergs with my ice picks.....

Windows 10 has a built in setting called Night light.  Which adjusts the screen to a more amber color per the scheduled times you select.

I have used Flux on my laptop at work with no issues. Is good if you work off hours or late into the night. After a while of having it you don't even notice the color changes.
