ok aim at target, control left mouse will designate aa/2nd priority targeting.  If you select it how do you cancel.   Like cancel one you selected to select another one.

Also do you have to be in the line of sight to designate aa/2nd priority target.  I seem to have problem designating aa/2nd priority target when the target is behind a island.

thanks

To cancel a target you selected, press "p" twice. This shuts off and turns on your AA/secondaries.

As for selecting behind an island, it can be done. Just make sure you click slightly above the ship, but below the name of the ship and distance it is away from you. Should be the sweet spot.

To switch targets, I just click on that target I want it to switch to. Once it's in range it will start firing on that target.

Pretty sure that there is no negative effect for having something second aim prioritized, so there is no Pro or Con in cancel aiming something. (and that includes manual aim captains, as well, since if you you fail to click something your secondaries wouldn't be firing at anything, anyways.)

Really all the prioritize target does is increase the odds of hitting the selected thing by 30%.... the secondaries will still fire at other stuff if the prioritized target is out of range or outside the firing cones of each individual, secondary gun/AA gun (which BTW, the manual aim captain perks don't do. The idle guns on the opposite side of your ship, stay idle when you choose those manual secondary perks... but... the benefits of the guns that are shooting, often outweigh the guns that sit idle. Not to mention...if you're surrounded by more than one secondary ranged ship....u misplayed a long time ago.)

There is no negative effect for having a priority target unless your secondaries should be shooting a different ship.

However, if you toggle them off and back on you'll get it cleared.

Just leave it and select the next one. No need to deselect.

I also find it helpful to anticipate targets, and select them before they're in range.

What I often do is, with secondaries, is select the closest ship at around 10km. This often works well with stalking DDs, as even though it deselects if they go dark, they're automatically reselected as soon as they reappear.

One benefit to consider is say you had manually targeted a DD with secondaries, but then disappears.  If it reappears it will automatically be targeted as soon as it is spotted again if you have not selected another target and will not have to manually select it again.

Likewise prioritizing an Air Squadron will stay locked until cleared (death or new target). Also if they RTC to Reload and come back at you that same SQD should still be priority.
