This is old news.

She was found back in April.

Right you are.  For some reason it just popped onto my news feed this AM, I didn't spot the date before posting.

no worries.

I see postings like that all the time on FB and its lists them as recent stories, but them I'm like 'wait a second......' and find out its a week or more old.

He had to have been within 100 km of the wreck of my Dad's ship, the USS Northampton.  Would love to see him find that...

Thanks Otterwolf.:Smile_medal:+1

I hope that it will be respected as a war-grave, but anymore I have my doubts.

Everything I have read about Paul Allen is that he spends his (Microsoft)  billions to find these wrecks out of respect for the sailors who manned them.

He is also a huge ocean conservation advocate as well.

I did not mean Mr. Allen, it just seems like soon as ships are found if they can reached, they start getting stripped.

Thankfully he does not publicly divulge their locations.

ninja’d

(...and what I believe I’ve read.)

iirc, most of the wrecks we’ve heard have been stripped are all in relatively shallow waters. <500ft or even less. I think PoW and Repulse are less than 200ft. Perth, some of the other wrecks from the Java-Celebes area, are basically within free diving depths, which is why they’ve been so easily plundered.
