When Operations came out It was kind of perfect timing , I had grown tired of playing Random as I didn't enjoy the game play and the waiting time ,Co-op is fun for killing time at work or home but Operations really struck a chord with me. I think I have around 270+ Sea Stars so that's a lot of Operations.

Narai flows well at first , if you have not lost any ships before the Missouri shows up you should be able to send a ship South to take out the merchant ships and a ship to deal with the enemy CV that's heading North. At this point things start to go off the rails ,with so many entry areas into the harbor your forces are spread out,and after fighting your way into the Inner harbor and down a ship or two  you now have to defend the troop landing While  fighting off air attacks, fending off the enemy ships still lingering  and, just when you think you might get a star or two star a enemy task force shows up with two BB's, one being a tier VIII  ...the end . It's not Impossible to 5 star Narai as I've done it in a very good division on the third try

the question is how does WOWS  expect average, random players to win that ? how is that any fun ? This scenario joins the sad ranks of  Raptor Rescue, and the worst Ultimate Frontier

I don't know why you're ruining these, at one time fun to play Scenarios ? is it XP farming ?

My solution to the XP farming is, activate the Normal/Hard option that has been on the Operations screen since Ops came out and adjust XP accordingly .

Normal should have a win rate of 60 to 70 %  and hard about 30  % with 6 to 7 man teams in hard and no more than 4 in normal

Activating the the normal/hard option also helps with players of all skill levels enjoy the game in there comfort zone .

Cherry Blossom, DFN, Killer Whale, Aegis  are great ! but please really fix these Ops it's a great game mode but you're fixing the wrong things

I was expecting Narai to be a lot more difficult but aside from the transports being a little better on moving out from the south and the Lexington being on the 10 line it really isn't terribly different.  Instead of the players being grouped up together in a small cluster of furious death they have to spread out a little bit only to regroup at the end.  The transport ships definitely feel more vulnerable this time around when the troops are landing.

Aside from that I'd just say bring some solid AA ships/builds and chances are you'll be fine.  People just need to be designated for certain tasks at the start.  I'm guessing a big part of the problem like it is every time is that whenever there's a heal circle people just sit in it not understanding that they need to get ahead of the threat to protect those transport ships.

From what I've seen, there was little to no communication between the players in a random team of ops.

You could have one player state the ideal plan of having one cruiser go south to intercept the cargo ships and one ship or perhaps even two up north to intercept the CV with its escorts, but with no feedback from other players you just don't know who's doing what and often times see you have couple of players going south or several going north to get the CV which leaves the transports heavily under protected and gets annihilated by the air strikes and Missouri.

They just can't be bothered to say anything and just do their own thing

Communication is key for success in ops, which is why it's far better to be in a division.

They didn't want to have a fast lane to tier 8 is the reason for the harder operation. I am glad I took time to grind out some xp back before they took out Narai if we are all being honest I am sure many used Narai as a fast lane to tier 8. The ops are being made harder to make one think and strategize more as a team which can be a good thing though not good for those who don't know game mechanics. I am going to try the op today and see how difficult it is.

played it through in sharnhorst just now the middle area has more cruisers than before and it is more difficult than before.

The middle of the map is a bad place for Cruisers past the initial stage.  Even the Wyoming will snipe the Cruisers and do good damage.  Every salvo from that was hitting.  And that's not even counting Missouri right behind it.  I only wish Wyoming was that accurate for me when I grinded with her.

I played the new Narai this morning for the first time.  Maybe an anomaly and we were all good players but it was just a random group of 7.  4 battleships and 3 cruisers.  5 stars, didn’t lose a single friendly.  Was easy peasy.   I had a MUCH tougher time last week with Raptor Rescue than this one.  Day off tomorrow so I’ll do it a few times and see if this was just an outlier.

I have to respectfully disagree. Maybe I have been lucky and the random teams I have been on have been competent but I have had 0 issues completing the operation with at least 3 stars. Ultimate Frontier in comparison was a complete train wreck of an op for random groups to even complete it successfully. I'm pretty decent in Operations and even that Op made me tap out from random groups. Narai on the other hand just requires 1-2 ships to divert south to sink the civvies and then a ship or two to divert north to take out the CV with a concerted push on the port to defend the offloading transports. Overall, I expected the worst but, so far, it feels like a pretty well balanced operation.*

*My opinion may change as I get a larger sample of random teams.

P.S. If you have 5-starred Narai already, it looks like you get 5 star rewards again for the new version. I don't run premium time but now have 24hrs premium after 5 starring Narai again.

I was coming to post the same thing as the OP. I don't usually play PVE at all but I do remember playing this one and just tried a game in an Atlanta. 0 stars much more difficult than I remember. I don't understand why if WG is afraid of Clan/Division farming (which is something they should be concerned with after Jingles posted multiple videos about how great and easy a grind it was with a division months ago before all these operation difficulty buffs) they don't just make those harder instead of shitting on randoms.

I took the Helena out and we almost got 5 stars but the lead transport died not long before we started into the base.

You are right about Narai being “ Unltimsye Frontiered” it crashes halfway through just like Ulimate Frontier does. Other operations don’t do that, but Narai and Ultimate Frontier certainly do.

They could have it where the previous versions of the operations could be "normal" mode while the reworked ones are for "hard" mode and any 4+ divisions can only do hard mode versions.

Played lots of both since the update. I no longer play Ultimate FU as it has zero fun (ditto for Raptor). Narai is nowhere near as difficult, and mostly lacks the malicious programming that makes Ultimate FU such a drag. It is doable for five stars, though not easily.

Well, just noticed Narai is Op. of the Week.  This is perfect timing as I have my NdJ captain needing serious injections of XPs.  Not going to get that in Randoms with the potatoes.

Don't think I ever succeeded in even completing the mission while it was on PTS.  Though I was only trying it in a RU DD.  But it did seem like the bots got the Ultimate F.U. fire starting chance.  But perhaps they've toned that down now.

Took about 5 attempts but my most recent group had an idea of what to do for most parts.

YLPDPFB.jpg

elL8ekt.jpg

I used my AA Gneisenau.  I reluctantly took the northeast route to deal with the CV since nobody wanted to go that way.  But that's fine.  Gneisenau is fast, her AA is über alles, and secondaries + torps are nasty in some of the confined ranges.  She is so fast that I killed the CV and was able to sail back in time and join the team as it entered the channel.

I did the same route as I took with my NdJ and Helena, and AA Gneisenau was so much easier.  Her amazing AA is not dependent on Defensive Fire (a failing on NdJ / Boise AA for this Operation), can take a pounding (no Cruiser can take punishment), and better yet, repair damage (Helena, Atlanta can't).

We would have easily gotten 5 stars if our Cruiser that said he was going to take the transports in the south wasn't lolligagging around and arrived there too late, allowing 1 transport to get away.

For the BBs, there's lots of good candidates here.

- Scharnhorst - Basically same deal as Gneisenau but her AA is mediocre.  Still great here.

- Gneisenau - Already covered.  The only BB I tried with this version of Op.Narai.

- Lyon - Especially if she's AA Spec'ed.  Just fast enough and her large gun count should work well.

- Duke of York - She should be good to go here.  She was good with old Op.Narai, she should be fine here.  Her AA is very good for self defense purposes, unlike KGV with her horrible AA.  Her Hydro would be welcome for the latter stages of the Operation.

- Hood - Fast, durable, her AA should be sufficient in self-defense, esp. when her Defensive Fire is available.

I think this Operation will go a lot smoother once people play it a bit more and get a feel for it.

Its actually easy, but im on my 10th attempt now and still no 5 stars.

People dont communicate. If you ask whos covering the transport/CV. Often no one replies and if they do, then other players just join them ,instead of staying with the fleet.

Tried to give orders in a game..no one replied. So I took care of the transports with King G ,cause no one moved there. When the transports popped up, a atlantea came over and "helped". Said was his first tiem and he had no idea what to do....next time dotn ask 9 minutes into the fckn game.

Another attempt i was taking care of the transports and was fine, but the carrier was sending his torps and bombers to the transports also. I asked him to stop..he didnt.

Its pretty frustrating....ugh.

The Operation might seem a bit easy for some but your average player with random teammates will have a real hard time with this Operation

Activate the Normal/hard option, solve the problem WOWS

Too many people are scared.  I was trying to get people to not pile in after me in the south.

NVcbqHD.jpg

I had a DD and Lyon come south with me, taking a lot of power away from the middle.  Tried to get them to not follow me, but that was hopeless.

I called out since the beginning that someone had to take the CV in the northeast.  Nobody ever did, so we were getting double waves of bombers from the Lexington and Ranger.

We had an Atlanta amazingly get gunned down by Nicholas and that paved the way open for Nicholas to sink all the transports in the northern part of the split.

This is the most annoying part of this op. Only time I have lost so far has been when at least 2 team mates game crashed in the middle of the port raid. :Smile-angry:

Just finished a game in it. Our team got 2 stars.

I was top XP in the Atlanta, and 2/3 of our BB's barely made 600 XP. Watching them play, it was obvious they don't know how/where to aim, and just sat in the repair circles the whole time...

Sad.

I completed 5 stars with a random team in my first try of the night. Gneisenau torped and killed Missouri, Lyon went straigth to kill the first cv. Belfast and Maas went for transport ships. The rest stayed with our transport ships. This operation it's much easier than Ultimate Frontier.
