How are you adapting to the new and improved "Operation Raptor Rescue"?

Since it's re-release with Patch 0.7.7, Raptor Rescue now features new challenges in order to obtain complete mission success.

The carrier skipper now has different options to sail to the objective zone forcing its fleet escorts to also change direction and deal with any enemy vessels and aircraft that try to stop her.

Employing your ship to best protect Raptor while also neutralizing enemy ships and aircraft becomes as dynamic as the make up of your team!

What is your situation report on the reworked Operation Raptor Rescue?

I am not a fan of the new Raptor Rescue. This was a scenario that did not need to be reworked. 

Programming wise, the new options make it difficult for guess what is going to happen and where you need to be. Kudos if that was your end result goal.

Bottom line, what you have created here is a scenario that requires a hand-picked division and voice communication to reliably get five stars.

I have cut way back playing the OP. This is sad for me because I like OP's a great deal.

With a random team, the chances of 5 star are very small and the chances of even a win are 50%. The Op should be reliably winnable with a random team in which most (not all) of the members play the mission in a moderately competent manner. Unfortunately with the tweaked OP even with a good team the Raptor or its support ships can be sunk if the team is not correctly positioned.

Wargaming has the stats on player numbers and player performance. I would welcome some transparency.

The long-term solution to clans and well-organized teams farming the OP's to create two levels "hard" and "normal" with rewards corresponding to the degree of challenge. Perhaps the "normal" run could be limited to pick up teams and the "hard" level reserved for clans.

It is challenging but do-able. I like the changes. It keeps you on your toes.

If you stick to the objective of protecting the CV you can win this no problem.

In order to get the 5*s you need to have a cruiser (maybe 2) or 1 cruiser with CV support go south for the 1st enemy carrier and rejoin the fleet ASAP.  The BBs ABSOLUTELY need to stick with the fleet and maybe a little ahead. Don't be afraid to take a little damage for Raptor.

There also needs to be a ship or 2 ahead of Raptor to soak up some damage to keep him alive. 

Finally, smoking up Raptor whenever possible will help a great deal.

You don't need to have the right team make up of ships but it does help. Someone to smoke Raptor, at least 1 BB, and a CV to spot the enemy carriers for secondary objectives and to keep attack aircraft from messing up your allies.

The new version forces you to stay even closer to the carrier, because you can't be sure where she's going, but at the same time you can't get to the maximum stars without going some distance away from her to kill the enemy carriers.  Sounds like a formula for frustration to me.

Another challenge of this mode are the unforeseen actions of programmed ships in the game. In this run, one of the support ships was permanently attached to the rocks. Was only able to four star the match because of this.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday the Raptor was rescued +65% with random teams. Over the weekend I seen more CV's & DD's than previously. I had 3 wins in this scenario out of many attempts. Was it the number of CV's & DD's? Was it people having a bad game? Was it because of the chances? I can't answer those questions.

I'm  enjoying the OP.

 My only issues are:

 The Raptor and support ships hitting islands and never trying to get off them.

 The SW exit has a tendency to spawn 2 BBs and 2 cruisers so close to Raptor it's nearly impossible to protect it.

 As for it being too hard to consistantly 5 star with a random team... so? Its seriously not that that difficult. If a random team is failing it's because the players are really bad. No mode should cater to the lowest common denominator.

 Ultimate "Censored" otoh is the Op everyone who plays Ops should be up in arms about. When a full 7 player div of players ranging from good to unicum, on comms, with full experience and coordination, cant consistently pull a 5 star, the Op is totally OP for random teams.

Like the changes that been done specially the part where we don't know where raptor would go.  Team work is key in this one it not hard to win it as long as everyone escort the carrier and stay ahead of it are little.

Rework seems fine to me. Its harder to win in randoms, and seems almost impossible w/o a good CV. I usually play CV but I was trying for 5 stars / 5 kills mission, so I was trying other ships, which was extremely frustrating because people don't understand focus fire, or killing the 2 CVs, etc...

I like the new version a lot..time will tell if it is possible to get a random 50% win rate.. I see a lot more dd’s being successful..not with torps but with guns..some bugs with Raptor stopping unexpectedly,    One key to a win is to stay ahead of Raptor with a few ships to suppress torps...

and it seems like it was built for the Dallas..

The only "REWORK" that was needed was to let the rewards be Repeated on any and "ALL" Scenarios when ever they are reintroduced in the rotations.

Pretty much screwed up like Ultimate FU. Instead of being eager to play it again, I regret that I didn't spend those 15-20 minutes playing Cherry Blossom instead. A complete waste of time when you can earn more XP and credits in co-op in only less than ten minutes per battle. If normal mode is this tough then don't bother with hard mode.

Pretty much why I stopped playing the OPS, I've 5 stared them all as many have, but playing them again and again with the newer first time players is just too frustrating.

Playing coop with my MO nets me more credits and enjoyment. WG had a great thing going, now it's broken... again. lol

The changes that introduce uncertainty into the exit are good. Thats about it. This op is work, not fun, and mostly stupid. I dislike it. 

  • the enhanced HE fire chance of the bots sucks to play against and needs to be reduced
  • the Always Cit (tm) technology of the Myogi sucks. I have had it cit my cruiser 3 times in two salvos, no matter how I am angled. That sucks and needs to be made normal
  • the special dispersion bonus bots get against BBs needs to be eliminated. Whole games of nothing but overpens against bot cruisers. That bonus needs to be eliminated and the bots need  to become normal ships.
  • the malicious spawn where the two cruisers simply teleport into the area next to the Raptor and its escorts at the end of the match sucks and needs to be eliminated. That's just wrong.
  • the south exit is too often a loss. In fact at one point my operations div was considering simply exiting the operation when that exit appeared, since there are too many red bots incoming at the end. The south exit is too hard.

The main issue is clear. As in so many other aspects of World of Warships, the restricted T4 MM, CVs, detonations etc, the devs have worked hard to take all the fun out of operations, and with Raptor they have been very successful. It is now work and not play, and not fun at all. The only reason my ops div does it is because we want the camos for our div mates, there is no other reason to play it. After we get the daily reward, we switch to a more fun operation. When Raptor is not in weekly operation we won't be playing it. I wont identify these operations that are still fun, since I know the devs will then kill the fun in them as well.

While I have not played it yet, from these reports I doubt I will. I play at 2AM EST normally so most of the players I know are not on. So that means Random Teams which just do not always work well.

So it sound like WG messed up one more part of the game!

This, well said.  It's gone from fun to frustrating most of the time.  I've added this to the list of OPS that I just don't participate in anymore.  Anytime the game is set up to fail, with ships running into islands and not navigating off, planes dropping torps on the carrier before the escort ships arrive at spawn, if you need a Clan/Division to play for a win, then just limit it to them.  Well I have better things to do with my gaming time than the mess you have made of these OPS.

What is sad, is that I was enjoying the old OPS, this is the first time in over a year that I've begun to look at other new games that might be of interest out there.  I'm probably in this at least until my premium time expires next year.  After that we will see what they do in the meantime to keep my attention.  Most of the friends I got into this to play with have already abandoned WOWS and moved on to other games.

I started this game as a Alpha tester, did Beta and some supertesting as well until I didn't have the time to do it anymore. I played WoT competitively for over 5 years and decided this time as an old navy guy, I decided I didn't want that environment, but just wanted to enjoy this game. I play mostly co-op and scenarios. I enjoy them and the level of uber-competitive toxic crap is almost non-existent. Unfortunately, WG is killing these scenarios by making them near impossible to complete with a random team. I don;t think scenarios should be brain dead easy (nor would I want that), but there has to be a better balance they can do to make these work for everyone who wants to play them. Currently, it's not working.

That is my biggest gripe with WG and other gaming companies when they think they have to "force" or lead players to play a certain way. IMO there was only one thing with the Operations.

BUT like all gaming companies WG does not listen. I have about 18 days left on premium time, and so far Wargaming has done nothing to make feel like renewing it. So I will go FTP, then most likely I lose interest and leave.
