I played 6 operations yesterday and out of those 6, 4 were defeats because the Raptor blew up. I am not talking she got whittled down, she just seemed to go from full health to nothing like she was detonated 4 times. I could be wrong about detonations but she does seem to be getting killed pretty consistently. Any one else notice this?

It seems as teams have to protect the Raptor more now, so if you play operation Raptor, you may want to be aware of this. When Raptor dies it's all over, protect her with your life if you want stars.

One thing to note is it is VERY easy to citadel the Ranger class carrier.  I've done it numerous times in a DD, with HE.  If she get's hit with AP from a cruiser or a battleship, she's done.  With the changes they made, bots are getting in closer due to the increase in numbers, and if you are not on the ball and they target Raptor, she's going to go down quickly.

probably because no one or not enough players were around to protect her, 3 or 4 ships, in my opinion 3 is probably the best, should be on Raptor at any given time the others can go for the CV group, but obviously Raptor needs to be your biggest priority in the Operation

For our last match of the day last night four of us went in and we five stared it with only two losses both of which were in the last moments of the operation.

yeah, thats the kind of plan im talking about, ships on the sides to take the damage, and if you have a DD, keeping Raptor smoked up, even if it just goes through the whole smokescreen, can help in the biggest way, i know because ive done this tactic in a DD before in the Operation, after all, the enemy cant shoot what they cant see right?

Yeah. She takes torps and goes down from 100% to 0% in a split second. 

While the above tactics are good with a team and cognizant people who can count to two, public randoms is nearly impossible. 

 

In a sense, cool: The AI matches are getting tough. But holy heck, the teams in operations are even worse than randoms.

Yes, this is how to do this operation now it seems. 6 battles by no means is a great sample, however in all of the other raptor battles I have played (pre-changes), Raptor did not die so easy.

My experience was similar yesterday, of all the matches, only 1 win, a 5 star victory, I had the luck of drawing a very good team.  I think we only lost 1 ship, pretty equal for everyone involved. 

One where an entire division died while fighting the first 3 ships!  We of course ran out of ships and the raptor sank just before the green circle.

I agree the carrier seems to sink more easily than before, not sure what the cause is yet, maybe they increased the bounty on the ship?  Most likely it is the increased number of enemy ships that seem to get close now, before I don't remember them getting so close to the Raptor.  You have to be ready to take 1 for the team if the torps get through our screen.

I don't think that the teams are worse in Operations and they actually seem better but the bots punish mistakes hard.

Really? I have had like 2x 3x 300 point players on a winning game. Ones who basically died within 5 minutes without ever hitting anything. 

Also, people LOVE to die on ops.

As I have said many times lately, it is Summer Vacation right now and when school is not in session the playerbase gets flooded with far less intelligent players. Once School goes back in session the operation as well Randoms teams will likely be better once again.

Biggest mistake I see in raptor is players hanging back.

Players are absolutely useless if they're behind the raptor, and you'll lose quite often. If the cruisers are doing their job, they should be killing/harassing those dd's, getting them to launch early before raptor ever shows his face.

Yeah. Last time, Raptor was too easy. All you had to do was keep up. So I welcome the additional challenge.

Right, if you make a mistake the bots will focus fire you to the waterline is a heartbeat. it is something that has happened to the best of us and the bots don't let go easily once they glom on to you.

I was able to penetrate the citadel with IFHE 100mms, before the recent buff. Which really shows how weakly armored the citadel of the carrier is.

You get an in game warning about torpedoes plus there are enemy BB's. I have deleted the enemy carriers with a single broadside from my Normandie in this operation.  The enemy carriers are easy to sink with a cruiser once you get past their escorts. The same is true for the Raptor, naked she is easy to sink, with an escort she has a much greater chance to survive.

The description of the scenario states your Mission.

Escort the Raptor out of the combat zone.

Protect the Convoy Ships.

Destroy the Enemy CV's.

Sink 3 enemy ships in 1 minute.

I have gotten all 5 stars many times just following the Mission. If your team chases the enemy you will lose. {That is not the Mission}

The Enemy also has a mission stop the Raptor and its Escorts at all costs.

It becomes a moving battle set a perimeter around the Raptor and Convoy  Ships and Fight off the onslaught of incoming Ships. Move as a Team Fight as a Team.

Two Long range BB's and 5 Rapid fire Swift Boats.

Stay close to the Convoy don't go chasing off, The enemy has no choice but to seek you out.

Focus Fire the close targets. BB's use your range to do damage to the closing ships at range.

Don't be afraid to use your ship as a torpedo Block for the Convoy. Protecting it is the only way to win.

One point, when Raptor develops engine trouble someone needs to make a run for the target circle to get him moving again. This also has the advantage of putting a ship on course to go after the second CV.

Yep.

Just had a game where we would have made 4 stars. 5 player ships alive, Raptor at half health just inches from the end circle, suddenly BOOM! Game over - defeat.

I'm calling coding shenanigans, that was complete B S.
