Great game.  Gotta love when even losing is fun. :cap_win:

I'm waiting for a premium DD to be balanced like that.  Go out and nothing gets in your way of having fun.

That’s pretty much what I posted an hour or so ago. Less achievements but just a hair shy of 200k. Ended up with 90k in direct damage from secondaries. We were very very close in main battery hits and secondary hits. That’s funny.

How much was your actual profit in credits on that battle?

Nice when you have such a good battle even if it was a loss. Massachusetts is a fine ship from the looks of it, glad they made it good for the game since it was nice ship in real life.

My game in the Mass was with a premium account, normal Mass camo, no economy flags at all: 586k total - 137k spent - 448k profit.

Yeah, I love my Mass. It's the perfect ship to play either first or last for the day...either when I need to warm-up or when I'm getting too tired to think straight but still want to play one more game.

It's a ship that reminds me a lot of what Quickybaby would say about the KV-5 in  WoT...something you can afford to be a bit dumb in and get away with it. :-)

Seems like all you need to do to have a really great dmg farming game in a Mass. is convince reds to chase you and keep them between 7-11km. Dueling at stand-off range, a lot of 8+ BBs can outdo the MA...but if even a tier 10 BB starts chasing you at medium range...just glorious  how fast you can rack-up secondary damage while angled away.

Yeah, as long as I am awake enough to keep though thought, "Must get chased," in my head, I'm awake enough to play a Massachusetts. ;-)

Yeah only ship I would dare move into secondary range with is a full secondary build Bismarck or Tirpitz and even then it could get a little intense. Scharnhorst or Gneisenau could beat Mass as well if bother are heading at each other at full speed allowing you to quickly get in close for Torps. Other than that my BBs do the unthinkable of staying 12km+ distance from a Mass until the Mass is sunk. Which is hard for me since I love the thrill of closing in to point blank range and shelling the life out of each other like those pirayeship battles on Pirates of the Caribbean. You can’t always get that close if the other BB is well escorted, but if it is alone of just about alone then close in the distance and have at it is my favorite way to fight! The side by side engagements of 1km range are particularly fun lol.

I am too competitive, a loss like that will only make me angry at my team. I could have 700k damage 9 kills and every award possible I will have less fun then doing 15k damage and getting killed in the first 2 minutes on a team that wins.

With all of the rage quit, hate stealth firing, radar ruined the game posts...it is both really nice and refreshing to see players HAPPY with a  FUN ship.  Kudos

Yeah, I liked playing the Bismark for the secondaries also, but the MA has started to edge it out lately for me. The Mass secondaries have been better at lobbing shells over islands for me and I've been able to out-trade German BBs when I can get things between us.

That said, glad more players aren't like you. ;-)

Also glad that there seem to still be a lot of players who don't seem to know what the Mass is good at. Just last night I had 3 different DDs who started chasing me when I was already at 6km and moving away towards a BB v. BB fight...needless to say, they didn't last long.

Yeah I am more of a rare breed of Battleship player that is brave enough and skilled enough to get in close range and cause massive destruction.

Just be thankful I am unable to buy a Massachusetts or Scharnhorst, otherwise my reign of secondary gun terror on the high seas would be expanded to credit grinding as well

Lol when I need credits I have to grind using non secondary premium  Battleships which limits how much secondary damage I can deal out, and forces me to fight at medium range more often. But at least when credits are plentiful I have some ships that are great brawlers to use. Although while not a major secondary ship, is still not all that bad either.

I had no money flags mounted, just xp so in profit I made 428,734

I'm surprised the secondaries did 70k damage

I have to use a specialized 19 point captain, and certain modules to make this ship as dangerous as it is.  All other players have to do is stay outside 11.3, and my ship isn't as dangerous.  This ship has benefits, and many drawbacks so yes I consider it balanced.  Play this thing in a tier ten match on a huge map and tell me it's overpowered

Yes, it's not overpower as this ship I ride sink than any ship I had due I tried get closer to enemies because secondary gun and they gang up and sink my ship few seconds. Something like 5% or less of over 45 battle. Captain is 11 point, not 18 point, though.

Agree completely. The Mass doesn't have all the benefits of a Bismark with even better secondaries. I think it does best with a slightly different play style. Its secondaries are stronger offensively, but it's weaker defensively in that its armor and layout makes you more vulnerable to taking damage than German ships and you also feel the effects of HE more harshly.

With a German BB, I'd be much more eager to push-in to point blank range for a 1km exchange, where my secondaries can blaze away and I can rely on my German armor to minimize how much I get punished in return. With the MA, this can go wrong a lot more easily, as a skilled enemy put enough damage on you quickly to overwhelm your heal. My best games in the Mass are when I can be angled at medium ranges (7km-11km) for a while, preferably with some low obstacles between me and my target, where my secondaries can pound away but I'm not getting damaged faster than my heals can deal with...ideally, I'm kiting away while maintaining my range band, but that's not always possible.

I try to avoid going point blank with the Mass unless I have to. She doesn't last there as well as German BBs.

Both the Alabama and North Carolina are better ships than the Massachusetts.  The Massachusetts does one thing well,  and its something that is done well by other ships too.  She also doesn't have the same tools other brawlers have.  What she DOES have are more accurate,  faster firing 127's which have better overall performance but she has less of them and she has the NC's 406's but with less accuracy.  So floaty shells with less of a chance to hit.

So yes.  Balanced.  Particularly considering how unfriendly the current meta is to brawling.

Fixed that for you.   No ship is really better vs others of the same tier, they just play differently.  North Carolina, is more focused on long distance sniping, Massachusetts is a (fairly) close brawler, Bama in between.  You wouldn't say the NC's healing is better than Mass, or that the Bama's secondaries are "better".

Based on MY style, the Mass is far more fun (for ME), haven't played the NC or the AL since I got her, but that's MY style.   I like her more, but she is not a "better ship", that phrase is misleading.  It should be: "I just like this or that ship better"...which is of course based upon your or my, play style.

Meanwhile Alabama is slowly drifting into oblivion. I’ve been seeing people say that the decreased sigma is not that bothersome, and Massachusetts tends to have better scores than ‘Bama.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the style of USN BB’s, but sometimes I wish I could trade-in my Alabama for what essentially is a more comfortable (and apparently funnier) Tier 8 Premium ship.

Yes, this is how I feel! Add my name to the growing list of people who think this is a fun ship :-) Although I'm still trying to figure out how to play this vessel better, I can tell that my skills on it are improving (I wish there were more tutorial videos on the Massachusetts, but I think it's too new), and it's one of only a few ship I have with a 1+ kill ratio. I have a blast nearly every time I play it… With one exception…

This. I'm not sure why, but easily 4 out of every 5 matches I play I am the only T8 battleship on a T10 match. I suppose this is due to some matchmaking mechanics that I am unaware of, but it sometimes makes for a less-than-enjoyable experience. Although I do have the occasional good game in this overmatched set up, I can vouch that the Massachusetts it's definitely not OP.

That being said… Excellent game, LCPL4ever, especially for a loss!
