I remember getting mine from the Hunt for the Bismarck campaign, though I was about half way through the Gneisenau grind anyway.  Love the Depths camo, hopefully you get yours at some point.  One of my favorite ships!

Congrats! Enjoy the ship. I certainly have.

Fully adopted her for secondary pew pew. With all Captain skills involved.

Max fun whilst clicking on targets that burn...fast-ish (French BBs are OP in that regard too).

DIE Bismarck.

in german, ships are female and not neutral.

das = gender neutral

der = male gender

die = female gender

and congratulations for your shiny new toy.

No. Reference the movie Das Boot.

Das Boot was just referencing "The boat", not a specific ship that would denote a female name.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but weren't german ships male or was that russian

I think you are thinking Motherland and Fatherland. Not ships specifically.

Nice work! Congrats on getting a hero ship, it is quite rewarding. I still haven’t got the Yamato yet!

dont worry about getting the paint scratched - a quick service fee and she’s back in port good as new ;-)

Tbh, I much preferred the Gneisenau over the Bismarck. High relative speed and torps are simply more fun than the extra secondary range and sonar.

Russians do (at least according to Tom Clancy) refer to ships with the masculine pronouns.

In the book "Yellow Eyes" by John Ringo and Tom Kratman Russian ships are also referred to as males however there is also a suggestion that they are also all gay. I didn't write the book.

"Das Bismarck" is indeed a reference to "Das Boot"

I'm using the masculine reference for Bismarck in deference to the request by Capt. Lindemann, it seems Spanish speaking peoples also sometimes do this. Had this been the USS Missouri I would have used a feminine pronoun. Had the Bismarck been a destroyer, then the feminine pronoun would also have been used (it seems the Germans use "he" or "she" depending on the type of ship and/or who or what the ship is named after).

Thank you for your support.

You'll be fine.  Lots of BB players are even afraid of water touching their ships.

Die Bismarck as stated, as ships are female regardless of the male name she is named after.

Just remember that Bismarck is at her best when grabbing someone by their collar and hammering their face in.

Nothing makes me more sad than watching something like Bismarck, Tirptiz, North Carolina, Alabama sit in the back trying to snipe at 18km+.  "Because they can."

Better add Massachusetts to the list. I watched one trying to fight from max range just a few minutes ago and it is a painful sight.

Anyone know how to get that cool camo with the yellow turret roof for Bismarck?

You better go back in time and explain that Bismarck's contemporary ships that use the male pronoun for Bismarck in their diaries.

Actually, the German tradition is that ships are referred to as male, regardless of name.
