I watched the beginning of this game unfold...and without much chat...a perfect trifecta.  DDs pushing up...CA (me) in a comfortable mid layer support position....and BBs in support.  When I saw this unfold, I took a screen shot...because it was really cool.  Not just watching it, but because my job was pretty much handed to me.

We met two red DDs in the engagement zone...and oh my...our DDs did their interference job...I was able to pulverize them in my CA role...and one of BBs got a mid range kill on one of them.  Reds were down two DDs at the start...and it just snowballed from there with one of their BBs (stripped of DD escort) getting focus burned....Reds down two DDs and a BB....and on it went.

It is always just so nice when you land on a team that knows what to do without saying anything, innit?

Yup. Just had a game this morning with my Fushun on Land of Fire.(It was a Tier VIII match)

The enemy had 1 Leningrad to my Fushun and our Akatsuki. I wasn't too keen on scouting at the beginning of the match(they had only three radars, but I don't like the risk of being spotted without warning when there are Tier VIII cruisers around), but our Atlanta offered to follow me, (and promised to Radar anything that spotted me, I only needed to say "spotted") and our Mogami behind him, and our Massachusetts behind our Mogami.

They had a Saipan but he didn't do much and never saw me. Anyway, so I made it up the right side of the map into open water, and mostly spotted the wallowing enemy BBs for my allies behind me, and occasionally dumped off torps in their direction. The Leningrad went south on the left side of the map and got deleted, I don't know by who but I never even saw him, as he was never within render range. At the end I got a few(3) kill secures with my guns and torps combined, and the last one, a Scharnhorst, was important in that killing him saved the Mogami. We never saw the Saipan, and capped the enemy base for the win.

But but wait! It's a lemming train, it's supposed to fail according to every below average player!

When a lemming train actually succeeds, it's usually because of:

1. Pure, dumb, rotten luck.

2. The enemy team is amazingly stupid.

3. Both 1 and 2.

Yup

Yesterday had a battle where both teams were lemming trains....... they won because they capped our base while my team stopped halfway on their route to the enemy base for no apparent reasom even when I urged them to push hard. I was the only ship left defending the base because I didn't expect my team would be stupid enough to actually lemming train. The expected occured, how do you expect me to vs 9-10 enemy ships?

No. I didn't need to. It's Land of Fire, and there's lots of islands. He could have asked me for smoke, but he made it clear that he wasn't the type who played the Atlanta without hard cover nearby, even with smoke.

Eventually he and his island got outflanked and then he was killed by an enemy BB(I missed that, I was busy keeping the buggers spotted), but that's hardly my fault.

Besides, I was way out in front. I was nowhere near the guy after we(only I, actually, the others stopped before then) made it to open water.

Lemming train or not. Power in numbers. There's truth in that, if you dig enough in history.

p.s. I'm not promoting anything 'lemming' or no 'lemming'.

Land of fire has allot of islands but it also has allot of water, especially in the west of the map. If the Atlanta got killed during your battle, he probably needed your help. But if he stated he only used hard cover then he did not know the opportunity. I did 73k from a single smoke in open water in my Atlanta before. It was a Benson smoke but that Atlanta driver would havee had a very amusing game had he known how to abuse his 9.4km detection range with or without islands; especially when there was no dd to spot him.

We were on the east side of the map.
