So... Is there a special prize for penetrating the enemy conning tower?  I mean technically it's supposed to be where the captain commanded from (though most captains preferred to command from the bridge where they could actually see wth they were doing).

Is there a critical hit bonus or does it damage the whole ships modules or is it just there for technicalities sake and a lucky RNG roll every once in a blue moon?

Oh, does it kill the enemy captain?  That'd be trolly as heck.  19 point captain blapped.

Well there are citadel hits that do a great deal of damage but the citadel area and conning tower are 2 different things. The conning tower is just part of the above deck superstructure the citadel is the heavily armored area below deck that protects the ammo storage, engine room, boilers, steering gear etc. The only special prize is the signals awarded for a devastating strike and for being detonated by a devastating strike.

There is some luck to it but good aim and AP ammo is what makes it work.

No a sunk ships captain carries on just as the ship does.

Some think it'll result in a citadel hit, but to my knowledge that theory was debunked several times.

Its mostly there for technicalities sake.

Well yeah naturally a cit is gonna be painful.  But the conning tower is modeled as a heavily armored section of the superstructure.  Just wondering if there was an actual reason beyond the historical value of it.

I guess not. It is just a chunk of the hit point pool of the super structure.
