I was thinking about which area of the world was best represented here in World of Warships.  I decided the best way would be by ship names, and this post submits a contender for the winner.  Understand I am just having some fun with this...

I believe the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has the most ships in game with seven (7!). Now you may quibble with list and say some of them are from cities in England, but I’d counter by saying they are ALSO names of cities in the US,  and are in fact flagged as US ships in both reality and it game.  Here’s my list…is there another area that tops this list?

Battleships:  (1) The USS Massachusetts (duh) BB 59

Cruisers:  (4) USS Salem, USS Worcester, USS Marblehead, USS Marblehead Lima,

Carriers: (2) USS Lexington, USS Essex

Destroyers:  zero (!) (Hull, Bristol, Conway and the Joseph P Kennedy might be candidates though)

Considering the doctrine of naming most IJN ships was after provinces in Japan, I think they'd have you beat here.

But that's an entire country, would need to be a single state, province etc.

Well Massachusetts is probably one of the most important States/Colonies in U.S. History so I think it having so many ships names after cities and towns is fair. Or at least that's what my father would say since he was born and raised in Worcester MA LOL.

Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) have modern ships with the same names (maybe different writing) as their Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) counterparts.

I know it was freaking me out when I saw the Atago class carriers they just launched. I think it is really cool though, to carry on tradition.

Massachusetts doesn't win if you're the New England Deflatriots playing against a backup QB in the Super Bowl.

You just mentioned "area of the world", not citing specifics.

LOL, aye.  However I'm a Minnesota Vikings fan, which frankly gives to a much more fertile field to attack :)

True.  But if you bring all of Japan into it, you'd have to bring in ALL of the United States.

I was just wondering if another state or province is as well represented in game.  I thought it an interesting and fun thing to look up.

Well, that's great work.  However, I was looking for ships NAMED after a location in for example, a state.  So by those parameters, Baltimore is Maryland, not New Jersey... Iowa and Missouri would be Iowa and Missouri, not New York.  But great info, thank you Captain!
