so, I was just poking around the internet looking for some cool mods to try. At one point, i stumbled on a mod to reskin (or remodel, whichever is most fitting for the situation) the Yamato, Montana, Missouri and Iowa with a pretty cool sci-fi looking skin. I get interested and try to download it from the link provided, however when I do so, it says that the content no longer exists. I get a feeling that the mod is still out there somewhere, so if anyone can point me in the right direction on this topic, that would be great. If not, well that sucks, because it looks pretty damn awesome. Thanks!

I know, right? thanks Jason! I only see the one for the Montana, and the Yamato one seems to be the Red Alert 3 skin that he put in the original post. You have any info about the other Yamato skin if I may ask?

I found one back before the Space Battles April Fool's event that gives Yamato her refit from the year 2199 (otherwise known a Space Battleship Yamato, for those who don't get the joke). It was at this place (https://sea-group.org/?p=3629&lang=en). Trouble is, I'm hesitant to use it because when I install it and view the ship in the in-game armor viewer, it looks like the armor model changes. I think that it's just a visual thing as the mod should only be client side, and not affect hit detection because that should be server side, if I understand how this game works correctly. Either way, I've only used it for screen shots and training rooms so far, pretty much just for entertainment (and some more cool ship/starship pictures for my ever-growing screensaver slide show). I've tried the other skins from the OP except for the Red Alert Yamato skin, some of them worked fine(ish, one issue seemed common to all of them, more on that in a second), some of the just plain didn't work for me (namely the Amagi skin from the same modder has never worked for me for some reason). Unfortunately, I always seem to get random, occasional crashes whenever I have them running, so I don't use them much, and now that I've got things like the Zaya camo, the Alldestroyer camo, my HSF camos and can color swap my IJN camos (my default nation in game anyways), I may not care enough to use any of them except possibly the Space Battleship Yamato camo.

I still use the Iowa/Missouri/Montana visual replacers, but my Yamato one has been partly broken for some time. Mainly, since they updated the turret model of Yamato/Musashi, I no longer have the fancy futuristic turrets showing up. If you happen to have an updated version of the futuristic Yamato mod (NOT 2199 nor the RA3 Shogun), I'd greatly appreciate it.

not sure if that's the issue I'm currently facing. I'm trying to install the 1.7.2 version of the mod for the Yamato, but I seem to have a hard time working it out. I know it's supposed to be in res_mods, but I'm not sure what to do with the items that the zip file gave me.

You do realize that those are simply skin mods, right...? Or did you just straight-up pounce on the fact a "mod" was requested and assumed it was another info-giving mod without bothering to check for context?

At any rate, I found them myself, they're up on SEA-Group, here. For anyone else that wants them.

I'm assuming it's the same FSI skins as linked above, from SEA Group, so if so, when you unzipped it, it should bring up a folder containing:

  • A folder named" PnFMods", with another folder named "SEA_FSI_Yamato" within it.
  • A Readme.txt
  • A Readme.md
  • An image
  • A PnFModsLoader.py file

The PnFMods folder AND the PNFModsLoader.py file goes into [Drive] / [Installed Game Directory] / world_of_warships / res_mods / [Current Game Version].

So for example for me, the drive location address for both files are:

  • E: / Online Games / World of Warships NA / res_mods / 0.7.6.0 / PnFMods
  • E: / Online Games / World of Warships NA / res_mods / 0.7.6.0 / PnFModsLoader.py

That should be it.

Load up the game, and it should load the skin mod when using Yamato or encountering a Yamato. DO NOTE HOWEVER, that if you use the HSF camouflage, it's considered a separate model, and thus will NOT show the mod. For the default Permanent T10 camouflage and any other regular camouflage, it will be overridden by the mod, and show up as the futuristic Yamato skin.

For the other 4 FSI skins and some other skin replacer mods from SEA Group, as well as other groups using the PnFMods Folder and PnFModsLoader.py file to override camouflage of a specific ship w/o removing all camouflage, you ONLY have to copy the folder INSIDE the newly unzipped PnFMods fold to the PnFMods folder in res_mods / [Game Version].

So for me, I have inside my PnFMods folder:

  • SEA_FSI_Amagi (NOTE: If you decide to use that Amagi skin, use Version 1.2, as 1.3 seems to have a model issue where the casemate secondaries do not show up)
  • SEA_FSI_Iowa
  • SEA_FSI_Missouri
  • SEA_FSI_Montana
  • SEA_FSI_Yamato
  • SEA_UAN_Nagato (this came from the other modding group you can visit on that site)
  • SEA_UAN_Ibuki
