I think it will be approximately 200ft long,  with multi directional cold launch VLS, and 4 laser mounts.

it will be manned by a combined navy space force crew.

it will be the USS Glennan after the first NASA director

I would replace the laser mounts with, Phaser arrays. That's just me.

Did the Enterprise from Star Trek have a massive Phaser Array at the bottom most point of the ship? Where the main "dish" of the ship connected to the warp drives.

Found a image from what I believe is from the original show.

Is it some kind of interceptor designed to go up in space, blow something up, then come back down? Or would it stay in orbit permanently? Would it be constructed in orbit?

Well it's pretty well known that shipping materials for anything (let alone a space ship) from planet side to orbit is darn expensive. Mining asteroids and using those materials is said to be a far cheaper and realistic way to do it.

However will we counter Dr. Choatica's Space Force?  He's armed with the devastating Death Ray!

To me this sounds a lot like the Allied Space Ship  Vorpal Blade Mod 1  from the Looking Glass series by John Ringo .  It has only 2 lasers tho .

Why not just build a space battleship and call it a done deal? xD

I mean hell who wouldn't want to see something akin to Space Battleship Yamato take to the skies?

Because then Japan would have to throw out their treaty they signed in WW2 and signed something to surpass the Yamato.

I wonder what America would call a ship the equivalent of the Yamato. Like if we just copied her design and then made her space faring.

Maybe go with a more international force like this:

Nice find! I actually have never seen those designs before. I love how the Arizona looks. Still has her US bulky look while still transitioning to the space design.

*right clicks and saves for later*

Also speaking of US ships in the anime serious, didn't one of the earlier movies have something like the Iowa in it? I keep recalling a scene where the Yamato gets back up from a few US Space battleships. I just can't remember what movie it was from. Since there have been quite a few of them from the original team who did the series back in the 70s and 80s.

Because her underbelly looks unarmed and space is totally a 3 dimensional battleground.

Just ‘dive’ your space ship below it and blast the helpless belly

Easier said than done because in space, large ships can still rotate fairly easily, while still being able to track targets.

Then then other ship will rise while on your underside.

why not just put guns on the ‘bottom’ and not have to worry about it?

The introduces weak points if the spaceship were to enter an atmosphere or aerobrake or if you got closer to the sun.
