Is camping normal?

Maybe I am not correct but I have thought of cruisers and destroyers as part of an escort fleet for battleships and aircraft carriers.

At least that is what I know out of the game.

As a battleship, do I position her at the back where most cruisers and destroyers are?

There's a sweet spot between sniping and yoloing. If you can find it, you're doing better than 75% of the battleship players on the server already.

@ThatOddMan If by camping you mean players who intentionally hang back and watch paint dry rather than advance and engage the enemy Yes that is a normal but usually useless move by players who do it just because they can. In a regular battle a player sitting in their own base is also known as camping and can be a good thing when the base is threatened as it delays the capture attempt. In domination mode a player sitting in a captured base may also be a good thing for the same reason. However advancing engaging and sinking the opposing team`s ships is the better play any time.

Don't try to apply how you think real world ship type and ship role  works and try to apply that in WoWS. The game is an arcade game that takes inspiration from real naval warships and that's about it.

Camping, at most, until you see an opening for a counterattack. However, a lot of players stay scrubs and snipe all match or push at bad times, easily throwing matches. It takes practice.

You are already way more mindful than most of your peers in the sub 1000 games noob zone. You will not learn much from your peers in low tier. Simply too many clueless folks following each other’s example.

Based in your astute observation that “something is wrong with  the world and it isn’t me” I would suggest you buy a tier 5 premium. My reasoning is that you might benefit from seeing slightly more experienced players succeed or perish and getting paid for your trouble isn’t a bad thing either. I’d pick a cruiser or a B.B.like the Murmansk or Texas if either are available. You’ll do great top tier and get hammered  against 6-7 but in both scenarios you will be seeing more experienced players and hopefully learning from mistakes you make against them.

The great thing about the MO is i can play aggressively and still make a nice profit if it goes badly (which is often)

Good question!! I am not nor ever was a camper...now, when I first started I used to wade in guns blazing :cap_rambo: ...and get hammered for it.. :Smile_sad: I had to tone myself down A LOT to start to have an luck in a BB. I'm still not perfect, and push more than I should, which does not make me a "normal" BB driver. Camping in the back almost never wins a game....knowing when to push, and making it stick, does. This is something that comes with games played my friend. You are still learning your play style at this point, so keep trying stuff. You will learn tons at the lower tiers, hard lessons tho they may be Grasshopper. DON'T be in to much of a hurry to rush up the Tiers thinking that will fix things. It won't. I know this all to well, don't make the mistakes I did.

I bought a Warspite waaaaaaaaaaaay to soon, and was TERRIBLE in her. Stick to the tree ships for now, IMO, until you learn the basics.

Just my two cents.

Good luck!
