From time to time, people come here complaining how Wargaming is "cheating" them by overcharging for this or that. Over the past year, I've found just the opposite to be the case. WG seems to bend over backwards in giving out free perks to its players. Case in point, here are the 10 premiums I've collected for free by just playing the game.

  1. ARP Takao/Atago
  2. Arizona
  3. Aigle
  4. De Grasse
  5. ARP Kongo/Kongo
  6. Shinonome
  7. S. Dragon/ARP Myoko/Myoko
  8. October Revolution
  9. Graf Spee
  10. Vampire

You had to complete missions to EARN those ships.

Is your time worthless, do you work for free?

Game development sucks from a funding perspective. You have to pay a pile of people relatively high wages to continually make complex, time-intensive content, then pay another pile of people to integrate said continuously developed content into a live game, pay a third pile of people to do QC on both, and then pay for high quality server hosting whose files have to be hot-swapped frequently.

I don't mind the expense because I understand this, also understand that this is the most balanced historical naval vehicular combat game out there, and they do collabs that make the game more interesting for folks like me while also expanding content for those who don't enjoy the collabs.

People really take a lot of this stuff for granted.

Yeah, one of the things I like the most in this game is that from time to time we have these marathons for free premiums. Even for not-so-good ships like the Duke of York it still feels rewarding when you complete all the missions and get the ship.

And, at least for me, I didn't have to "work" any harder than my usual play to get all the free ships offered since the ARP events so, yes, I consider these ships free. I would be playing the game anyways, I just got one more reward in the form of a free premium.

How did you get Arizona and De Grasse for free though?

Great idea, its been a while wince we did one of these. I remember my first free premium, I worked hard to get 150 kills in July 2016 to get the Mikasa. Was it a great ship? do I play it lots? no, but it was free and it was fun to earn it.

Since then, I have managed to get a good haul of free premium ships.

Shinonome from the campaign

Graf Spee from New Year campaign 2017

Duke of York from the Christmas campaign 2017

Vampire from missions

Aurora and Texas from attending Let's Battle in Minnesota last July.

ARP Kongo's, Myoko's, Takao from missions.

Aigle from missions

Ton's of tech tree ships from missions and campaigns and collections as well.

Wrong POV. I can spend my free time in a game and get some extra while playing it.

I like the concept behind the marathons, I just dislike the timing. I'll leave the game for a month or two only to come back in the middle of one (Aigle, Bismarck), or be away and unable to get on for enough of the marathon that I'll be a SINGLE mission short of getting the ship (Indianapolis). If I could just buy a $1.00 token or something to help my progress along like Tanks, that would be something, but as it is the marathons are just a tease with a string of "okay" mini rewards attached for me.

 logging in to get stuff=free

Grinding out missions=not free.

Does that help any? I really can't break it down any further.

Anyways, you are in the wrong thread, we are here relating the stuff we have obtained for no cost in game. Not complaining about it....

go start your own thread....

Still wrong. I have every techtree besides USN CV at max. So I play what every I want. If I can get some free stuff it's still free. Less grind then a new techtree. I don't have to decide if I spend my time to make money or have free time. I went to work 39 hours per week. Everything after this is sleep or time off. Time off is divided into: wife, stuff need to be done, dog, playtime. If you your definition is right my dog should pay me when I walk with him.

Work for free? I'm in a standby volunteer team for my company in the case of an emergency. I don't get paid if they call me.

Well, I'm sure not going to apologize for a troll such as yourself. I've been among many people to call WG out on mistakes they have made. But free stuff is not a mistake.

If it bothers you that much, just don't patronize WG products; even if you spend no money on the game, you're providing OPFOR for people who do, and that's supposedly supporting what you hate.

Unless it's not actually a big deal, and you're just sulking around rustling jimmies as a way to "strike back" because a company you don't own doesn't conform to your standards.

Let me ask this as I am not sure...did we not EARN (some event or grind) to get mentioned ships!?!?  While they are just GIVING (no event or grind) to get players to return.

Sorry if I am wrong, just asking...

Actually both take time, so both aren’t free. If that is what you are trying to prove.

ot; I have always been happy with all the free stuff. I do really like the free ship missions! I appreciate them :)

Might I ask how you got Arizona and De Grasse for free? I don't recall there being any campaigns or combat missions for them.

He played the game, as he does every day he connects to WOWS, as you do too, winning these ships is a bonus intentional or unintentional, at least he is grateful, and being so, deserves respect.

Playing is not work, it is unpaid pleasure, whether it be with your kids, sports with friends, the daily crossword, each of these will eventually take up your free time, being rewarded with a prize, is a bonus.
