Would you play some sort of kitschy noncombat roleplay mode?

Yes or no?

Are there a lot of people who would like to on occasion play some sort of non combat mode in this game? First the ships are modeled so beautifully. And we have horns and camo and flags.

What about a treasure hunt mode? Or pretend convoy patrol. Or exercises?

What about moving around in one of the pretty ports?

Imagine just hanging out with 20 people.

Sometimes but not always.

Maybe.  If this were an open world game,  I wouldn't mind taking a cruise  like The Great White Fleet or something.

Would be interesting if you could start a match with a little base people could visit for buffs. Meanwhile you're crafting and mining your little land mass for materials.

Minesweeping would be fun, and dangerous too. The object of the scenario would be to sweep mines ahead of the convoy and lose as few of the allied ships as possible. I'd also like to see a depth charge submarine hunt in a scenario, especially if it involved convoy escort. Another scenario could be to pick up and transport troops or be an oilier and resupply ships. This game could be fleshed out considerably from where it now stands to make it more interesting.

It's hard to envision a WWI/WWII navy game in totally non-combat mode, however.

It would be cool for about 3 minutes.  Everyone would then get bored and start shooting each other.

I'd like to see it done, but by friendly AI ships as there is currently no anti-submarine armament controllable by players (for obvious reasons) but the D/C racks are modelled on the Black Swan and other small ships. This could be a "Battle of the Atlantic" event, biased towards destroyers, as they generally get very little love in operations. e.g.

Mission Task: Save at least half of the convoyed ships.

Mission Task: Protect the Black Swans hunting submarines ahead of the convoy. [Give us eight to protect; if more than four die, torpedoes start appearing out of nowhere and sinking convoying ships.]

Mission Task: Assist the Black Swans in detecting enemy submarines with hydroacoustic search (and in a night phase with radar, as they would operate on the surface then).

Mission Task: Assist the Black Swans in destroying submarines that are forced to the surface. Like the "Save the Shchors Captain" task in Aegis, this can give you a bonus star if you fluff another secondary task.

I would like a free roam in all the ports. to walk the streets and alleys. After all the work the Designers went through to make them look so beautiful. To stroll around looking at the detail.

I call those Operations and players still complain about them.

I'd rather sail in them.

I wouldn't  mind hanging out in some of the port side bars, it would remind me of my stint in the real Navy.

Anyone ever been to Texas jacks in Palma Spain?
