What’s the fastest shell velocity and accuracy ship?

After grinding US BBS for a while, I am getting tired of ridiculously long shell hangtimes, and would like to try a ship line that focuses on shell velocity and accuracy over damage or pen. Which ship has the fastest shell velocity, which has the most accuracy, and which had the best blend of both? Hoping someone knows off the top of their head... Appreciate your time, thanks!

Get zao or moslva, and you get pen and damage from AP/HE.

Grind a republique if you want best ballistics and pen in game.

Khab guns start at 900 m/s, and groz at 950 m/s

What type of ship? The fastest are RU cruiser and tier 8-10 KM cruisers

I just go by the "feel" of the ship. French Tier VI+ BBs and CAs all feel great to shoot.

Fastest shell velocity is Tier 8 Akizuki. And best dispersion is Yammy for bb, Khaba for dd, Zao for cruiser?

best combo wombo is moskva / zao

Velocity and accuracy improves significantly once you get to the N. Carolina, Iowa and Montana; so much so that adjusting to the new ballistics is jarring for most and takes some getting used to.

The fastest shells in the game are Russian CA.  If you're having difficulty aiming with USN BBs, you're going to have difficulty aiming with almost all guns.  USN BB guns are widely regarded to be some of the best in the game due to their mixture of range, accuracy, and dispersion.  Due to the slow shell velocity, they have extremely accurate vertical dispersion, which leads to much tighter groupings and hit ratios.

Technically, the Italian HE shells are a very close runner-up:

  • Duca Degli Abruzzi: 990m/s
  • Duca D'Aosta: 950m/s

Zao for cruiser?

Katori with ASM mod 0 has 76m dispersion at 13.5km. Don't know the sigma.

For battleships, Yamato is the most accurate with 276m at 26.6km and 2.1 sigma.

If you want something that puts shells on the target easily, play Russian cruisers. Downside is you'll need to learn how to not get one-shotted because they're mostly glass cannons.

The Graf Spee has fast flat trajectory on shells, but it also doesn't like to get hit.

Moskva, her shell velocity is ~ 1000 mps and her penetration to match. She has areas of 50mm plating to bounce even Yamato shells [just dont do it from the bow] and can do it all from 22km away.

The 100mm shells lose speed fast so for anything at moderate or longer range the Akizuki's guns are actually pretty floaty.

Iirc the ship with the lowest dispersion in the game is Iwaki Alpha using the ASM mod 0. I don't remember the exact figure from the top of my head (at work) but it's something silly around the 60m range. Fighting at tier 4 firing ranges, Iwaki's guns are more or less laser accurate.

Only at short ranges though, and it makes little difference at short ranges.  The goal of higher muzzle velocity is to make longer ranged shots easier, but the rate at which the 100mm shells lose velocity takes that advantage away.

Hence, "runner-up" status.

You can be pedantic or you can answer the OPs actual question.  Yes, you are technically correct.  Here's your gold star.  Now the answer to the OP's actual question is going to be based on which ships actually get benefit from their high muzzle velocity.
