The images speak for themselves.

Yeah Yammy does real  well when she's allowed to play to her strengths. I don't have it myself but I fight a lot of them and very rarely are they played to its strengths. Good match.

The only hotel that will destroy the house and possibly the entire neighborhood of anybody who tries to vandalize it :Smile_teethhappy:

It's always best to crop the screen shots, eliminating player names, before the mods come along and inform you of a NaS violation.

Good game... what I find happening these days are escorts don't want to follow a yammy as much as they used to follow her. DId you have any escort ships with you or were you soloing?

I recently got my Yamato, clumsy in moving around like a fat cat trying to get out of the bathtub, but her shells cuts precisely and thoroughly like a well practiced samurai.

Yamato is a massive deterrent. When you see a Yamato on the horizon, you're never sure how good that player is. In the hands of a good player who knows how to aim, a Yamato can reduce ships to smoldering wrecks with pinpoint precision, even when they're angled.

I've only played a few games in her. She's fun simply because I rarely have to worry about other ships angling against me. Although do note that while the 460s can cleave through 32mm plating at any angle, it can't overmatch higher than that. So, for example, a 460mm shell striking a Montana's deck armor at auto bounce angles will still ricochet

Never Mess with a Yamato

That's some bad advice there.  Everyone should have focused on you first.

Or, you know, just bring a carrier to the fight. Yamatos are prime food for carriers, surpassed only by Grober Kurfursts. Musashis are even more so, on account of her poor AA.

I just edit battle reports by using painting program or something and blacking out the names of the players, but not the ships or anything else of course.

Lol as recently as yesterday a Graf Zepplin could tell you a fun horror story of what my Yamato AA did to 36 of his planes and then his carrier... Lol I figured out a few good upgrades to make Yamato AA defenses better able to take down planes. Hillarious thing is I went for buffed Secondaries so the AA is just fun added benefit. Wonder what would happen if I went full AA build instead if only part way? :cap_book:

I had one quite a while back in Yammy where it stuck us with only 7 ships per side I think.  Don't remember the exact particulars though I do have the screenshots at home.  The poor Monty it paired me against ended up compelled to bow on to me and I casually bashed his face in.  Think I sank 4 of the 7 personally.  That was an ultimate Yamato to its strengths situation.

One curiosity that you may not know though, a Moskva can Bow Tank a Yammy, after a fashion anyway.  You bait him to shoot by showing a little broadside, then turn back to around a 15 degree angle and the shots will glance right down the side of the belt armor.  Watched Flamu do it and managed the same on my 1st try.  Guy finally had enough of his sh*t HE ruined as I closed in on him that he actually turned to Run from me, at which time I proceeded to horseblast his side with AP point blank.  Really blows their mind.

Just be careful of a Roma that knows it can bow tank....it will bounce those wammys at 8km if it is bow on.

The issue with the Yammy is that it melts under focus fire, even worse than the Conqueror. Particularly against T10 cruisers.

Want to see a Yammy die?  Put a Zao and a Hindy on it at 18km, and it's dead inside 2 minutes. It won't even be a close contest. The Hindy's AP punches right through the deck armor, and the Zao will start 4 fires, watch you put them out, then start 4 more.  The Yammy is so big that even at that distance, the cruisers are scoring hits with 75% of their shots.

The Yammy absolutely requires teamwork - without it, it's just 70,000 tons of target.

Like my Yammy but actually sold the Conqueror due to the HE business.  In my experience, even moderate HE focus could wipe out an entire, much vaunted super heal in under a minute.  Made the whole ship feel like a gimmick on crutches so I cashed out of that piece.  Consequently I don't even bother firing AP at a Conq much of the time, just HE gimmick it under the surface.

Put any ship under focus fire and it will melt fast - so not really sure what the argument is here...

- The Yamato has a region of 57mm deck armor means even German HE will not penetrate it

- Hindenburg ap most likely will not be able to penetrate deck armor since it only theoretically falls below complete autobounce at ~18.4km ignoring the fact the non overmatch deck penetrations don't quite work even when they should

- You should definitely have fire prevention on most BBs especially at that tier so you should not have four fires on you...

- Fires can be repaired fully - so as long as you aren't really overextended you should be able to disengage and heal up completely negating it

Basically if you are not overextended and are either able to go dark or stay mobile, appropriately control your dcp / repair party usage in conjunction with flags and premium consumables should allow you get survive some focus

I'm sure any BB dies under extended focus fire but if you're in Yamato it's especially hard to get away, you're the slowest t10 BB, your concealment is bad, you turn slowly, your citadel is extremely vulnerable during it and what's worst, your turrets can't keep up with your turn speed. Comparing to other t10 BBs we have:

Montana: turn slow but can run at a whole 3kts faster, harder to hit citadel. Guns can actually keep up during turns if you have EM.

GK: same as Montana except the citadel can't be hit, and even faster turrets.

Republique: runs faster than everything else, can disengage quite easily.

Conqueror: turns better than Yamato, run faster, 11km concealment.

Positioning and map awareness is extremely important playing a Yamato, because you know once you've overextended, you're all but guaranteed death.
