I doubt they could balance that stuff without missiles.

If it is a feature at the moment, sorry, NDA.

As a practical matter, there is no reason why you couldn't operate jets off a flight deck the size of Essex or Shinano. Anyone who tells you something like "you need an angled deck" is lying. As a balance matter, on the other hand...well, see also the first jets in Planes or War Thunder. There's a hard performance wall between them and the last prop aircraft.

Not every country has a suitable aircraft in this timeframe either. There's no way you'd ever navalize the 262, for example.

The devs have gone back and forth on the issue several times; yes no maybe no maybe I think is the sequence.

I hope not.  The jet age was not truly realized in ww2, and ww2 is when we really saw the BB and a lot of naval vessels have to take abackseat to airpower.  If this is primarily to be a naval combat game, I fear that jet age planes and weaponry would either 1) break all trace of realism or 2) break the 'naval' focus.

If you want jets there is always WOWarplanes.

I sure as heck hope not! The transition to successful carrier-based deck aircraft wasn't made until the early 50s, which is also the missile age. If we're setting this game in that era, we might as well just cancel the show right now, because BBs are hopeless against ship-launched missiles.

Regarding jets on aircraft carriers, did the early jets require catapults to get into the air? I did a little light internet searching to see if there was an easy to find answer out there already, but my google-fu is apparently weak today.

HMS Perseus was the first ship to use a steam catapult in 1950. Pretty sure Vampires and Sea Meteors could get airborne without the aid of a catapult.

I don't remember the devs saying much about it lately in the public Q&A, but it's possible I missed something. Likewise my single biggest concern is the lack of suitable planes for a number of countries, what is one supposed to fill the gap when there's not even a land-based jet fighter to navalise? Make a completely fictional one?

Most of the recent commentary on it hasn't been in public Q&A but scattered around other threads in the forum that ask this question. I think the last two answers I described are like that.

Has nothing to do with the NDA, as far as I know. I am making a supposition. I have no information -- secret or otherwise -- regarding CA aircraft. BBs being vulnerable to missiles isn't a gameplay element, it's a real-life fact.
