"The required minimum distance traveled to avoid an AFK/Inactive penalty in Tier IX and X battles has been halved. "

This sentence says more about high tier game play than anything else could.

Slightly dissapointingly that there's no PA unique captain or IJN unique captain. Whilst I understand that the IJN has had a lot of anime captains, the only one with unique skills afaik is Yamamoto who requires a very long campaign to get.

Go to the WOWS premium shop, log in (top right) with your usual email and game login, and see if she's still available for ultra-dirt-cheap. If she is, get her. (I can't see her because it's a once-only offer that I've already used up.) She's basically the Amagi in turret layout, albeit only with Tier 4 armament. If you know what you're doing with regard to driving battleships, she can be a lot of fun.

Ya, and it's always targeted first, because the way it plays pisses everyone off.

I have her.   She’s good.   Just play her as a battlecruiser.

Bully cruisers up close... keep enemy battleships at a distance.

You’re fast in a world of slow ships so you can control your engagements.

If you like HE. You better, because your AP shatters on day old bread. It is, however, a refreshing change from the snail-like pace of other tier IV battleships.

Yamomoto is a unique IJN Captain.   Just because he requires effort doesn’t change that fact.   Most require some significant effort to earn.  Just look at the Russian one.

It's not THAT bad, but effective shots against battleships do require a proper broadside with little or no angle. It is only 12-inch, after all.

You will find out tomorrow, won't you!!!

Clearly enough people have ranked out now that everyone who doesn't already have one wants their Tier VII firestarter - and WG is ready with what they want! If the Belfast had not been withdrawn from sale forever, you can bet she'd be on sale tomorrow too.

So, quick question, how long do ships stay in the tech tree when they get put in? Because I really, really want the Atlanta, but at the same time wallet says no.

The Russian one is piss easy to get relative to Yamamoto's marathon. Whilst you are technically right about him being unique, some more relatively easy to acquire 'generic' unique captains would be welcome too.

It's actually not too bad.

Good:

- Speed and maneuverability are excellent, especially at this tier

- Base HE fire chance of 32%

- Guns seems to be okay at hitting things, but that's probably because the maps you're on are smaller and, thus, you tend to be a lot closer to enemies than higher tiers

- Surprisingly good secondaries

Bad:

- AP pen is hot garbage. Only use it on cruisers and broadside BBs.

- It's not a BB armor wise. Any other BB will poop on you, as will smart cruiser players who fire AP into your broadside

- Can be citadelled a lot easier than one would want in a BB.

Ugly:

- The thing has pretty much no AA. Like, none. So stay with friends if there is a CV.

- Can be detected from space on a cloudy day.

Overall, I like it and I'm not even that much into BBs, tbh.

I disagree.  Yamamoto requires more TIME to earn, but the missions are pretty easy.  You generally don't have to do much more than activate them and play the way you normally would and you'll get him eventually.

The Russian captain you can get sooner,  but you have to play certain ships, in a specific way against specific opponents against a short timeline.  Much more frustrating.

They have lots of players with a ton of cheap doubloons in their ports, makes perfect sense to refresh the tree.:Smile_teethhappy:

Yes, because something very soft and with less range than everything else in the match is ... fun, I guess?

I suspect @MajorEnglush has been burned to a crisp by them enough times to wonder what life is like on the other side of the firestorm. Grass is always blacker greener, I guess.
