For me it is HMS Belfast. She was one of the most capable cruisers in the Royal Navy both in World War 2 and during the Korean War.

In the game, Belfast is feared by every class ship as she can punish destroyers, other cruisers, battleships, and even aircraft with her versatile guns, smoke, and sensors (both sonar and radar).

"The dangers of the sea should always take precedence over the violence of the enemy." - Benjamin Bryant, Royal Navy

The famous and historical Monarch of course! Who can forget how it sailed upwards the Spree river to  participate in the Berlin Victory Parade :Smile_honoring:. Or how it used its cloaking device when kamikaze planes attacked the task force it was attached to. Truly a wonder of a ship!

Seriously now,  HMS Warspite, a ship that lasted 2 World Wars and still kept on pulling its weight. Same with the ingame version, be it tier 5 or tier 8 she faces, she can still be dependable. Oh, and an excellent motto as well ("I Despise the Hard Knocks of War")

I'm kind of liking the Admiral Makarov although I don't know about her real life accomplishments.

USS Arizona. A truly beautiful ship. Would have been a wonder to see her if we had a war in the late 20s early 30s. Unfortunately the carrier soon took over making the US battle line alittle obsolete. A lesson learned at pearl harbor

Emden.  Maybe not so much now since the Matchmaker doesn't allow her to prey on merchant sh... err...  I mean Tier 1's.  But that little ship could pull some miracles and was a pleasure to sail.  Add to that the history behind it.

Still think this was my best game in it, although a loss, and it's a throwback in it's own right, old style credit screen lol

The Iowas. Fast, hard hitting AA escorts. Pretty much what they do in game.

Disagree completely; ANY ship with that combination of abilities would be just as OP, which is why she isn't sold anymore.

Are we talking real life ships, or just in-game ones?

I disagree about Bel "punishing" aircraft. Her AA is pretty weak.

On a small map with lots of islands, I'd give it a go in a Black Swan. On a more open map, I suspect she'd have the range to kite away and burn the Tier 1's down, but bring them close in and you might get a few surprises.
