How do flag bonuses really work?

Hi All - I've used flags in the past to do some minor buffing - but I've saved a few up to help increase XP when I need to grind...as I was going through things I began wondering how to flags work when different flags overlap their bonuses?

For example:

RED DRAGON: gives +100% to Commander XP and +100% to XP

HYDRA: gives +150% to Commander XP, +250% to Free XP and +50% to XP

Does it matter which order I assign the flags? Assume you you earn 200 Commander XP

1) If you apply in order of RED DRAGON then HYDRA - does that give you: 200 +100% = 400 +150% = 1000

Or (i'm guessing) does it give you 200 +100% = 400   PLUS  200 +150% = 500   which results in a total of 900

Just wondering - thanks for any insight!

The modified base XP is set at either your base XP or if you have premium, 1.5x your base XP. Ship XP is calculated as modified base XP + modified base XP*(sum of ship costs bonus % in decimal) then the commander XP is Ship XP+modified base XP*(sum of commander bonus % in decimal)

It's all additive except for the premium multiplier. It doesn't matter which way you apply them.

  • Base XP = 1000
  • Base XP + Premium Multiplier = 1500
  • Equal Speed Charlie London +50% = +750 (+500 without premium)
  • Red Dragon +100% = +1500 (+1000 without premium) regardless of if you put it after or before Equal Speed

I think all bonuses are addictive, so let say you get 1000 base xp:

Red dragon gives 100 xp, hydra gives 50 xp, so combined 150% xp

1000 + 1000*150% = 2500 xp

now we calculate commander xp:

red dragon: 100% + hydro 150% = 250%

2500 +2500* 250% = 8750 commander XP

I was under the impression you added the percentage.  So 1,000 + 150% = 2,500.  Then for commander XP, it would be 2,500 + 250% = 8,750.

You have to find the modified base XP, then calculate ship XP, then add the ship XP to the modified base XP with commander bonus. And you are right with the percent.

Our the heck with math (I only deal with statistics not the regular non collage math). Just go to detail XP and credits tab at the end of the battle. From there you can see and calculated for you by the game, ALL the bonuses your earned for the match. Yes its that easy lol The hell with math sink ships :cap_rambo: Cheers!

From the wiki (scroll down to the "Earning Credits and Experience section):

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Economy#Experience

^^ this really lays it out.

There is also a break even point where having +ship exp and + commander is more desirable than just + commander exp.

Yeah, whole xp multipliers go first, then commander or free xp modifiers go on top of that result.

It is a bit more complicated than that.

Commander Modifiers are based on Base XP (after +50% if Premium Time).  Final Commander XP is Base Commander XP + Commander Modifers + Ship Modifers.

Free XP is based on the Final Ship XP (after all Ship modifiers).  Base Free XP is 5% Final Ship XP.  Final Free XP is Base Free XP + Free XP Modifers.

The point is that Ship Bonuses are added together with Base XP and Commander Bonuses to get total while Ship Bonuses are multiplied by Free XP Bonuses in calculating the total.  In effect, they stack in a way the Commander Bonuses do not.

Assuming no Premium Time:

Base XP = 1000

No Modifer yields Free XP = 1000 * .05 = 50
+100% Free XP yields Free XP = (1000 * .05) + (1000 * .05) = 50 + 50 = 100 (2x No Modifier)
+100% Free XP and +100% Ship XP yields Free XP = ((1000 + 1000) * .05) + ((1000 + 1000) *.05) = (2000 * .05) + (2000 *.05) = 100 + 100 = 200 (4x No Modifier)
+100% Ship XP yields Free XP = (1000 + 1000) * .05 = 2000 * .05 = 100 (2x No Modifier)

No Modifier yields Commander XP = 1000
+100% Commander XP yields Commander XP = 1000 + 1000 = 2000 (2x No Modifier)
+100% Commander XP and + 100% Ship XP yields Commander XP = 1000 + 1000 + 1000 = 3000 (3x No Modifier)
+100% Ship XP yields Commander XP = 1000 + 1000 = 2000 (2x No Modifier)

As above but if you can save it for the first day win or 100 percent weekends.

Added with camo's such as restless fire etc well give you huge gains on a solid win.

This is the formula from the wiki for CXP:
EC = EB · AT· (1 + ΣME + ΣMC)

Where:

  • EC - Total commander experience earned from battle
  • EB - Basic commander experience earned from battle
  • AT - Account type: use 1 for "Standard"; use 1.5 for Premium
  • ΣME - The sum of the coefficients of the modifiers to experience, which include:
  1. The first victory of the day for each ship in port (Default value is 50%, but can change due to events)
  2. Usage of Signal Flags
  3. Usage of Camouflage
  4. Awards for the completion of Combat Missions / Events
  5. Usage of Commemorative / Special Flags
  • ΣMC - The sum of the coefficients of the modifiers to experience, which include:
  1. Usage of Signal Flags
  2. Usage of Camouflage
  3. Awards for the completion of Combat Missions / Events
  4. Usage of Commemorative / Special Flags

In his example, ΣME, and ΣMC are both "1" (100%,) so you end up with:

1000*1 (standard account) * (1+1+1) = 3000

@YeOldeTraveller got it right.

Who can find the link to the post that described how to maximize stacking signals during increased first win payout events?  Dammit, I should have saved that post...it was good stuff (mad kudos to the author).  Basically, save your super signals (Dragon, Red Dragon, Ouroboros, Hydra) until there is an increased first win payout, add a day or two of premium time, use certain camo...and PROFIT.  I have pulled in 10k-15k Free XP per game using this method, and have earned 100k+ Free XP in a day.  Obviously, ship XP and credit earnings can be equally amazing.

*EDIT - found it:

Are you sure your equation is right? Here is the wiki....

According to your calculations this would give 4,466 instead of 7,036 Just curious where you got that from.

Ignore:

@Belyy_Klyk Copied and pasted straight from the wiki.  See post #8 for the link.

Edit: update

Just played a game, and verified the numbers I originally posted are correct.

FYI: "Sci-Fi Space" is a camo.

Good to hear it.  I'm always concerned I will either have some obvious misconception or, when math is involved, some stupid typo in the formula.  Also, you presentation is more clear.

Thanks, @desmo_2, for the link.  That is a much better resource than my aged memory.

This may help.  It was from a scenario game in my Atlanta with a base XP of 2600 and a premium account
