If you could build your own fleet using any of the ships in the game factoring in all their mechanics what would your ideal fleet be?

mine would be

Flagship Montana class BB in the center,  10 Midway class CVs encircled around the flagship for air superiority , 10 Hakuryu class CVs mixed in with the midways for strike capabilities, 2 Iowa class BBs outside the CV circle for AA and long range artillery  , 15 Des Moines class CAs and 15 Cleveland class CAs for anti Air and radar support, 10 Atlanta class CAs for more AA and radar outside the DM and Cleveland circle, on the outskirts I would have about 20 Gearing DDs, 20 Fletcher DDs, 10 Minotaur CAs, 5 Moskva CAs and 10 Hindenburg CAs for anti DD sweeps, and lastly 5 Shimakaze class DDs for hit and run torpedo strikes.

Tell me what you would do for a fleet.

Yamato, Musashi, Shinano ( fully equipped and completed and the reportedly 100 planes it could carry, lol good luck penning the belt armor DD guns), Bismarck, Tirpitz, all the H class BBs that were planned and ready to be built but war stopped them, think Kurfürst is inspired by those. Gneisenau and Scharnhorst. Hmm AA might still need help despite alt the German ships, so throw in AA specced Kii as well heard those are good in game.

Harekaze DDs since with several gun choices available they would be adaptable depending on their missions or locations. Being able to use 3 types of ammo sizes could come in handy if stationed in remote areas.

Graf Spee is a flexible choice for various patrol missions and raiding, those BB guns can deal with things a DD might not be able to and still go into narrow water ways.

Might add in some of the IJN CAs for added support as well such as Aoba, Myoko, Atago, and Mogami.

And of course the Kitakami in case I have to sneak in and disable all of @MrDeaf CVs in middle of the night before beginning my main attacks... :Smile_teethhappy:

There's almost a right answer to this... clan battles has shown us that - at least in the absence of CVs, and a limit of one BB - the ideal fleet is like a Monty, a Gearing/YY, some Hindys and some Des Memes. Voila!

Every clan practically runs the same thing... AHEM, I mean I stand corrected: the ideal fleet is seven Khabs, no more, no less.

a 10 ship fleet made up purely from ships in game? 

2x Großer Kurfurst (for the weight of broadsides plus secondary firepower, AA is not bad too)

2x Yamato ( for long range accuracy/ firepower)

1x Midway (do i need to state reasons to have a CV?)

2x Des Moines (AA and close in support)

2x Minotaurs (anti DD/ AA/ good torps/ concealment of fleet)

1x Kagero (sneakiest ship in game, best for scouting/ screening plus can put out 16 torps in 8 seconds)

Four Carriers with +5 Hanger, 4-6 Battleships, maybe a similar number of Battlecruisers, 8 Heavy Cruisers, 12 Light Cruisers, and 20+ Destroyers

Wait you mean in this game... well that is my (sub-optimal) battle-fleet setup in HoI4

As a patrol/interdiction Task-Group, I run 2 CA, 4 CL, and 12 DD
