Hello Captains!

I am curious, if we were to hold another large World of Warships based Player Gathering, where would you like it to be? As a reminder, we have a small one being held in Austin, TX on April 27th, 2018. https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/who-will-be-there/

So a couple of notes about your potential suggestions to help find good ones:

- I respect everyone with pride in their town, but for the sake of large community engagement we prefer to do these in large population centers. i can't tell you how many times people suggest we hold a Player Gathering in a small 20k person town in Arizona or the like. Full disclosure in case you were wondering: we have done a small scale player gathering in a small town before, 2-4 people showed up. We probably won't do it again.

- I would prefer there is a popular ship in your region to hold the Player Gathering. Preferably, in our game currently in some fashion.  Previous examples include: USS Midway, USS Intrepid, USS Lexington, and USS Hornet.

- Give a good reason! Don't just say "come here because I'm here!". That's lame. Don't be lame. Give lots of reasons if you want!

(Note: If you don't like Player Gatherings, then this isn't the thread for you. Move along. Don't be that guy!)

Player gathering at North Carolina or Yorktown. Both have great histories and a great museum presence.

Plus Yorktown has Laffey and Clamagore as well in the complex.

Indianapolis would be a great choice. The cost is reasonable, transportation is affordable along with an easy city to navigate, the airport is laid out well for arrivals and departures. Also there are many museums and memorials to visit including the uss Indianapolis memorial. In fact, Indianapolis devotes more acreage to memorializing the fallen than any other us city and is 2nd only to Washington dc in the number of war memorials. Another nice advantage is the location of Indianapolis within easy driving range of the vast majority of the Midwest including Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, along interstates from all directions.

Chicago, IL - Museum of Science and Industry, McCormick Place, or Navy Pier both have venues that could work.  MSI has the U505 which would be great for people to visit.  OR how about Great Lakes Naval Base?  Or maybe even the WG office.  It's also the 3rd largest city in the US, more popular than last year's Houston, so that should meet the criteria of "large population center."

Also, I'm here :).

Boston MA.

USS Salem, USS Massachusetts (in Fall River)

What happened to our suggestions to replace the ever respectful  "John Doe"?

They were heard. They were forwarded. But, contrary to popular belief, not that many people really care that much.

It's lower priority at the moment.

I'd like something relatively cheap to get to and stay at, wherever that might be.

Although I'd probably be incented to drive a bit further if you were offering unlocked (all ships, like press account) or exclusive-access (live testing, like ST) on-site accounts for attendees. And drink tickets. If you offer both, I'll give you my most informed opinion on how those pre-release ships drive! :cap_wander_2:

I'll second this.

USS Wisconsin in Norfolk VA is also a very good museum ship to visit, but I'm not sure how good the Norfolk area is for large gatherings.

Baton Rouge, LA  Home of the USS Kidd.

Plus for additional entertainment  there are 2 large well known casinos nearby.

What about Boston? I suppose the Constitution is there, but if you were willing to travel a bit the Massachusetts and Salem aren't far away.

Hi Pigeon,

i'd say Seattle, to make it available to Canadians and Americans nearly at the same time (On the West coast). Vancouver is about a 1 hour drive from there, and there's quite a bit of players in the area as well.

Thanks,

Same!!! U505 area is really cool now that they built a structure over it. Multimedia presentations also.

Hello Captains!

Hello!

I’m somewhat surprised that you’re having an event in Texas, but not at the Nimitz museum in Fredericksburg TX.  That would be a ‘must attend’.

My hometown! We have a submarine!

I would love to make it to a meet up sometime, but the nearest museum (other than our totally great submarine) ship I am aware of is 10+ hours away. Not being coastal is unfortunate in this case.

Two suggestions:

Long Beach, CA  (Home of the USS Iowa)

Honolulu, HI (USS Missouri,  and USS Arizona Memorial) --and it's Hawaii

I would love a UK Gathering, Theres plenty of good places you could do.

My personal favourite would be the Portsmouth historic Dockyards, You have no shortage of ships of all ages there, and an added bonus is that its less than an hour for me to get to :)

A more realistic approach may be London however, HMS Belfast might prove a good place to hold a meetup, being a very well known ship in WoWS and historically.

Continental United States is honestly the travel limit for a Player Gathering hosted by Wargaming USA.
