Target lock issues

Anyone else notice issues with target lock since the last couple of patches?

I'll be zoomed out and lock up an enemy ship. However I see a bunch of torps headed right towards him (or some other reason I don't want to shoot him) and hit the X key to cycle to another nearby enemy ship in range.

However, the only thing that happens is that the first enemy ship is simply de-targeted - - the lock-on reticle does NOT cycle to the other ship. Repeatably hitting the X key only targets and de-targets the first ship over and over again.

So frustrating. I can't be the only guy this is happening to. A few of my clanmates say they are having the same problem.

True, having the same issue and also noticed that the target is also not displaying on the minimap as it should when targeting a specific ship.

My understanding is that 'X' will deselect a targeted ship, or target the ship that is closest to the current aim point.

I've never had it cycle, but I wasn't trying for that either.

Using X to target a ship hasn't worked for me for a while. Just have to hope that the game targets the ship I actually want lol. I just assumed it was my keyboard failing though.

I don't usually use that feature so I haven't noticed it.

Never had it work that way. It always switches between two ships with the X button, if they are very near each other, It never cycled to the next ship!. It has always locked on the ship I was focused on.:cap_cool:

I think it’s like the F3 to call out a target. I haven’t ever had it cycle for me. It simply selects or deselected the ship that I am looking at. If I’m not almost right on the ship with the center of the screen, it just deselected whatever was selected.

It doesn't cycle. Never has.

You have to have your reticle over the ship you want to target using X.

^This.

I've always had to either "look" at my chosen target and manually target it, or the computer would just automatically target the centered target for me.  It never cycled through targets.

The problem I have is that sometimes the game will suddenly un-target a ship that I'm actively engaging.

That happens if you move your reticle over a different ship.

If that's happening to you -without- moving your reticle to look elsewhere then send in a bug report/ticket.

Makes sense.  Reticule pans over a different ship than the one I'm leading, then switches.  Still annoying, though.

X never cycled, it simply selected or deselected the ship under the reticle.

I've noticed that when there's more than one ship in my view, the auto-targeting selects the ship that's furthest away from me.

Proving, once again, RNGesus has a sense of humor.
