ST. American destroyer Monaghan, tier VI.

Defensive AA Fire consumabe is added to a separate slot, it has similar stats to that of Farragut's.

Alternative "Monaghan B" hull is added with 5-tube torpedo launchers. Mark15 mod.3 torpedo laucher module is also available for the new hull. Third and fourth gun turrets are replaced with Bofors Mk2 and Mk1 (quad and double). AA guns on the platform behind the 2nd funnel are replaced with Bofors Mk1 turrets.

The changes make this ship more unique compared to the Farragut destroyer.

If WG is smart, they will release this much later than the Cossack.

Her B-hull is going to be very interesting. Removing the number 3 and 4 turrets leaves Monaghan with only the two guns at her bow.

The Mark15 mod.3 torpedo's are the same from Benson.

The B hull would be an all or nothing option to ship AA.  A nice feature if you are in a match with CVs but a handicap in all other matches and non-CV matches are more common.  I think I would pass on the B hull even if I was interested in the ship (which I am not).

2 forward guns, better AA and 2 quintuplet torp launchers from the Beson? Am I reading this right? Because if so ... this ship is WEIRD.

It could potentially presage a theoretical carrier revamp where they become much more common in maps than they are now. In that situation, an "escort destroyer" could be immensely useful.

Definitely will not use the B hull if I get this ship.  AA is not the reason I play /any/ ship, including the Atlanta, and most especially not on a destroyer.

I'm assuming the 'B' is mostly fictional, it makes sense to replace ASuW weapons with AA on a WWII destroyer, but it doesn't make sense to keep the even-less likely to be used torpedoes and the AA fit. That's why Kidd lost TT for AA.

Overall it's interesting, I think the 'A' hull is looking rather potent, it's 'C' hull Farragut, just better in lots of ways and the trade for the B hull looks pretty good too - DFAA, concealment and HP vs 1 gun. The B hull is different, and at T6 premium destroyer prices and as something a little out of the ordinary it might be worth a punt.

Hull B

1x2 127mm DP gun

2x5 Benson Torp

Bofors with DFAA

Am I reading this correctly?

More like 2x1 127mm DP guns, and I think there will be a few 20mm Oerlikons still on deck too.

Yea, B Hull is a total odd wash.

Monaghan did have two armaments during it's career, but nothing like that. Only one turret was removed.

Then the  AA is meh...

with full AA build

2DP gun with DFAA = less than 100 dps at 7.2km, which is worse than Nicholas..Expect to shoot down 3 planes from T5 CV per AA duration...

Torp is also meh....

2x5 torp seems nice

but the speed is terrible at 55 kts and reload is more than two minutes...:fish_panic:

Yeah, with how AA guns are balanced in this game, removing two DP guns and replacing them with Bofors is actually a downgrade, so the B hull seems pretty useless as an AA platform, and will obviously be useless as an artillery platform too.  You'd lose a shootout with a Hatsuharu.

Getting Benson's mediocre torpedoes that take forever to reload at tier 6 is not all that enticing either, even if they would be more useful than the standard Farragut torpedoes.

Make her a prize ship and people would fall over themselves to win her, just to give that weird B hull a go. Besides, you can always revert, can't you?

I would not at all mind a chance to win something like this, to take into co-op for fun and keep my Farragut company.

Well, range wise, true.  But mid-tier 127/38s are terrible AA guns in terms of DPS, at ~3.2 DPS per gun.
