Today WG uploaded the Alabama Naval Legends:

I can't help but be very disappointed. It used to be that Naval Legends talked about a ship's service history, explained why it's a 'naval legend', this video is just pretty pictures, only the most basic information and a lot of time dedicated to the process of putting a ship into the game. While interesting in and of itself, that's not what I expect from a Naval Legends video.

But then, that's just my opinion.

Hmm I haven't watched it yet but it sounds like a departure from the other videos which I really liked.

Which is why they should have had SoDak or Massachusetts.

Those ships actually did something other than shoot down planes and make big onshore craters.

I thought it was cool.

Not saying it wasn't an interesting video. Just that it wasn't up to the standard of their own Naval Legends series. Like an earlier commenter said, it's more like a dev diaries than a naval legends.

Hence this thread existing. I have just as much power as anyone else, regarding this.

South Dakota is soup cans now and the only thing Massachusetts did that Alabama didn’t was to score a few hits on an incomplete French battleship that was moored in a harbor. Not exactly glamorous.

Whether a ship is still afloat or not has no real bearing on whether or not a ship is a legend. Didn't we have one on Bismarck?

Maybe Massachusetts didn't do much more than Alabama, but it did do more.

Had one on Yamato. Still probably my favorite one of their naval legends videos.

Note that this one is also 10+ minutes longer than Abamalama. Not saying length by itself makes a good video, just that it hints that they rushed the Alabama one out the door, while having taken their time and done their best on the Yamato one.

They should have named their new series something else, rather than reusing an old title that comes with certain expectations. I like the video but it's not a "Naval legends" video.

I'll catch it tonight.

I am very interested as when I was growing up, my next door neighbor was a WW2 USN vet who served on USS Alabama.   Petty Officer, Engine Company C.

So what was today's video then? Why the confusing title?
