Hello Captains!

For this week's weekly thought, I'm I have read a lot of you don't like the new name of John Doe for the Seagal replacement commander.  So you know what?

Give me a better name! Best name might get put into the game as a replacement. American Commander names only, please. Get creative, but not offensive. If you have to ask if this is offensive, it probably is.

(TO NOTE: If you don't like this particular Captain or want Seagal back, this ain't the thread for you. Move along, now. Don't be that guy!)

Also, I take it historical names aren't allowed? One would have thought the name would've been changed to one of those.

Please consider Ernest Edwin Evans as the Captain to pick up the torch to represent the USN.  He took his Fletcher, the Johnston into a battle of slim odds in order to protect the vulnerable marine flotilla behind him at Leyte.  It cost him his life and his ship but their courage convinced a Japanese taskforce consisting of Yamato herself to turn back.  That kind of action represents the best instincts of the USN and would be an honorable tribute for WG to make.

Historical names aren't allowed, sorry.

A lot of legal red-tape when using historical names.

Pretty much any other name would be fine, heck even the cliched John Smith would be fine. Doe is used when you have an unidentified person or body in the US which apparently the RU devs find hilarious.

I personally want Seagal back. But if not, I would like Stephan Seagulls.

And we have this weeks "Guy". Come on, sir...I placed it right in the OP :(

How about Niko Power in honour of a former work comrade. :Smile_honoring:

Would an appropriate surrogate for Evans work?  I do think its a story worth retelling, but I get the legality behind your response.

Closest I can think of atm is Evan Rogers.  Or something to that effect.

There was also the realm here of historical nicknames of fighting men, would that be in the cards?

You get name combos like "Hutch" Evans or "Bull" Evans which aren't truly solely associated to Evans specifically.  "Bull" in particular is a pretty bald-faced Halsey reference and combination with Evans by itself may clear the legal team.

I hope you do get a better name out of all this, John Doe is so bland. D:

Why not a woman for a change? Hedy Lamarr is a name currently in the news, maybe an anagram of sorts (to get past the red tape), Heidi Lamare?

Sure there must be many other possibilities. But come on Pigeon, a female (no not anime), captain, is long overdue. (I'd ask for a cat avatar, but feathers would fly..)

That is much better than John Doe but I am certain there are legal entanglements with that just as with real names.

Yeah but Stallone can actually act and would probably cost a lot more to use anything associated with him.
