Any chance ever going to see or be offered to use in Random battle games so called secondary type ships? Able to do 2 duties, on 1 ship. Example: Minelayers/Destroys, German Supply ship/Raider, types like that. I’m sure there are other type secondary combo ships out there, would put whole different spin on random battles. Easy target turns out able to defend and inflect damage by itself. Just possible give it a thought. Thanks

What would this bring to the game? Nobody's going to think "Oh that player is just sailing around in a harmless freighter, bless his soul" and not shoot him.

i guess if a Yugo gets you from point A to B then it is just a good as Jaguar. Just a whole lot Slower.

Yes the Ships of WWI and WWII Could and did have hidden talents of Shadow and Slight of Hand.

The majority of them are sleeping on the bottom of the oceans and seas.

Warships are just that, the sneaky ones { freighters and cargo ships} got away with their tricks once.

A dual role ship does neither role as well as a specialized ship.  So a supply ship/raider...well, nothing to supply in game, and it won't be able to fight as well as a true warship. So it would suck.  And a minelayer/destroyer... there aren't mines in-game except for scenarios (Dunkirk) and giving players minelayers when half these mouthbreathing potatoes can't even manage to keep from torping their allies seems like a bad move.

This addition would solve nothing and add problems while being not fun to play.

Raiders like the ones you mentioned were not warships.  They were merchant vessels that were modified to carry guns, mines and torpedo tubes into enemy waters to disrupt commerce.  They had no armor and kept their original power plants, making them slow and sluggish.  At best, they might, might have carried six 6" guns, three on each side.  They also might have carried up to four torpedo tubes, two on each side.  Most of these ships did carry naval mines, ranging between 90 to 360 depending on the size of the ship.

Only one Merchant Cruiser ever sank an enemy warship.  KMS Kormoran managed to successfully sink HMAS Sydney off the north coast of Australia.  The Sydney closed to extremely close range, upon which the raider dropped its camouflage and opened fire.  The second salvo from the German vessel destroyed the bridge.  Repeated accurate fire from Kormoran at point blank range disabled the Sydney's main battery, and a torpedo hit the British cruiser just behind A turret.  Both ships pulled away, burning heavily.  Kormoran was later destroyed when the fires reached the mine hold, and Sydney was lost with all hands, having torn in two four hours after the battle because of the torpedo hit.

A merchant cruiser would serve no purpose in WoWs as everyone would know that they were an enemy vessel, and an unarmored one at that.  The greatest strength of these warships, their stealth, would be negated simply by looking at the team list to see what the enemy has.
