Tier X Premium?

Probably not.

An Allen M. Sumner is practically a Gearing (EDIT: And Tier 10 Pan-Asian DD Yueyang is an Allen M. Sumner).  So would you make this a t10 premium (which Wargaming doesn't seem to want to do except for one notable exception)?  Or gimp it a little to fit in the T9 range, like with Musashi?

DD579 is the only destroyer we need.

If we get Laffey chances are it'd be DD459, a Benson class.

I would like to see the USS Laffey in game but she would ether have to break the "No Tier 10 Premium rule" but than we are getting a Russian T10 clan reward cruiser. Or be a down tiered ship like the Musashi. Or you could just get the Yueyang which is a Allen M. Sumner class. Heck maybe WG will branch the USN DD line and than put her in.

Besides that if you're ever in the Charleston South Carolina area you should stop by Patriots Point and see the USS Laffey and the USS Yorktown. Well worth the price of admission.

I have been to Patriots Point many times, most memorable was when i spent a weekend on the Yorktown. That was fun.

Nah, guys. Those are all great, and they'd be awesome to play in game... but the one that we REALLY need?

Would love to see the USS Porter (DD-800) as the DD XP ship, make it every bit as good as the BB XP ships please - tier IX.

Ahem, no.

The American DD we need in the game is this.

8 x 5" and a 37 knot speed? Hells to the yes.

Why a Porter when you could get a Somers? Faster with an extra quad torp launcher. The problem may be where to fit it in. By the time (tier) the guns wouldn't make it completely OP, the lack of AA would make it an easy delete in any CV match. Strip off guns and torps for AA and it becomes a lesser Fletcher/Gearing. Now if the US had given one to Russia, it would definitely be in the game already.

Just noticed something on the Porter wiki page. It says it carried reloads. 8 tubes, 16 torpedoes.??? Never heard of any US DD with reloads. Looks like they are in the long boxes between the high mounted tubes. Not really set up for any quick reloading.

yeah -- just looks like a Gearing with a few tweaks.  Maybe gimp it make it a Tier 9 premium obtainable by 600000 Free Exp pts. or some such.

How about instead: Do a gimpy DD line that's made up of Destroyer Escorts.  They'll be a lot slower than typical DDs of the same tier -- they'll have one or two fewer main guns -- they'll have 20 to 30% lower health than equivalent tier DDs.  However for the gimick, give um both smoke, hydro and radar.

They could add the Sumner Class as part of the normal US Tech tree along side the Gearing with a few tweaks (For example better stealth and speed for a few seconds less of smoke and shorter torpedo range (14km). It would become accessible after you unlock the Fletcher. Then they could add a Permanent camo to represent the Laffey. I know they wouldnt want another Gearing like ship in the game but I think it would be great for collectors and those of us who as dearly in love of the ship and wish we could buy it  :D

They can also add it in as a t9 free xp premium with a better def AA Consumable with  Nerfs/Buffs listed in Bold
