Does the Yamato need some tweaks?

I'd imagine this question will trigger some thought, or salt.

The Yamato, has the easiest to hit citadel and the worst mobility. You're a floating fortress but the moment someone gets your side or even gets a good angle on your odd citadel. Its.....painful. You can position yourself as best you can but if you get caught on the side or if your team collapses you're near helpless. Then there is the odd Octagon citadel, the Monty Citadel is at the waterline, still hit able but there and we all know about the GK/Conqueror which can derp around broadside and for the most part get away with it. The yamato is forced into a bow tank playstyle and thats really all it can do. It can't push unless its flanks are covered(When you're able to its fairly fun but hard to do in the current meta).  I wish the playstyle was more flexible.

Problem is, how would you fix it and does it even need to be fixed When I played my Yammy i enjoyed the ship just annoyed at the playstyle of it. But how do you make it more survivable/mobile without making it OP or making other ships  obsolete in their roles? (Looking at  Monty and Kurfurst.  Due to the meta Kurfurst is outclassed by the Monty . Then look at clanwars, only Monty's as well)

I don't want the Yamato to be OP(i remember  beta and the "lol montana") but perhaps tweak some things? The more I think about it the more i feel the  game as a whole would need a sweeping change than a simple tweak to one ship.

The only Thing I'd fix is giving her four 25mm triples for the turrets, and two twin 13.2mm guns for the Bridge. Unacceptable that the Musashi has a better short range AA :Smile_trollface:

Yamato doesn't really need any buffs. It's more the case of the other BBs having recieved [edited] proof citadels, which is stupid.

BBs should be punished when they make a mistake and show broadside.

Raise the citadels a bit on the others I'd say, especially Conqueror.

A complete valid suggestion burn is drowned by groupthink.

Conqueror already melts like no other under focused fire, it has weak all around armor susceptible to HE and regular pen damage.  Nerfing citadel will only force players into max range, that’s not going to benefit anyone.

I'd like to see the glaring citadel weakness in the Yamato modified.  Most (if not all) of us know what to aim at when the Yamato goes broadside, and in another Yamato it shouldn't take more than 2 salvos to sink it.  That is the major defect of the ship.  I'd like better AA too, but agree it is not a defective ship other than the citadel issue.

Yamato only really needs 1 buff.

Her Super Heal needs to be restored. That gives back some tanking capability to her, without changing her citadel height (which I believe to be a fair trade anyway).

However, I fully support unnerfing her maneuverability some, even just cutting down the rudder shift to match Musashi, or keeping the rudder shift but cutting down the radius to 800m instead.

Because people don't agree with you it's group think?

Because Yamato is not an indestructible killing machine it's group think?

Yamato already has the best guns in the game. far and away the best sigma in the game, second highest hit points at tier X, and good AA... that's not enough?  Anything that prevents it from being an unstoppable " I Click-You Die" ship is group think?

No suggestion was made, only a petition for response.  This is fine, no rule against it or anything, but the player base is justified in being very cautious about buffs.  No I haven't played Yamato myself, but I'll say Musashi certainly does just fine for herself.

Just now, Ramsalot said:

Conqs aren't already hovering around out at max range?

Okay, securing from snark mode.  Seriously, I don't think it's not worth considering re-balancing old lines.  I just strongly urge caution when doing so.  Very ... tiny ... changes.  Those are frustratingly difficult to implement though, because there's always going to be a very vocal response.
