I have to say, this was one of my favorite updates in a long time. Thus, I decided to write a review on the many great aspects of the new update:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The new seafoam/wake details.

The new wake details look awesome. They add a sense of the ship chugging through the sea, as opposed to the smaller wake we had earlier, which was unimpressive. Also, the torpedo wakes are top notch! I oogled at the cool trails left by the torpedoes as they traveled right by my ship. This new feature is really cool. However, I do think the torpedo wake stayed on screen for just a bit too long, and could do to fade about a second or two faster.

2. French battleships

A new ship line is almost always good, and from my limited depth of about 5 battles in two ships, I do like the new French BBs. I can see myself playing the Normandie for many battles to come. I also love the Normadie's horn. It sounds like one of those DUNNNNN sound effects in movie trailers. I can't get enough of it!

3. Operation Hermes

Even only after one (failed) attempt at the operation, I can tell this is going to be fun. The new weather effects are great. I'm going to have a bunch of fun this weeked running this operation.

4. New detonation mechanics

I like the health buffer that they put on detonation. It should remove some of the very salty complaints of "I got hit once and blew up". I'm against a full removal of detonation, but this seems like a good thing for everybody.

5. Removal of Operation Narai for an indefinite amount of time

Buried away in the patch notes was this line: "The 'Narai' scenario will become unavailable for an indefinite amount of time. We plan to make a series of improvements to make it more unique and riveting." This operation definitely wasn't the funnest operation available, but it was a good one. I do hope they rework it to more focus on the landing of the troops, as that felt like an underappreciated aspect of the operation.

6. The new detection indicator on the crosshair

I really like this new indicator on the crosshair. It really does wonders for just glancing quickly at my detection range. I used (and will use) the minimap and memorization for detection ranges, but I like that I can know, at a glance, what my detection range is.

Summary

There were a few other minor changes that I liked, but I felt this post was getting too long winded. I really did like this update. The new features are great, and I will continue to ooh and aah over them for a while. Thanks Wargaming for the update. Some updates are small, and bring maybe a new premium or a new flag, but this update was big and beautiful and I loved it.

My WOWS client ALWAYS hanged when playing Narai. Maybe mine was not the only one?

The thing I like the most about the new wakes are that the length of them noticeably changes between 1/2, 3/4, and full ahead. Before, the only real difference was at full stop(duh), 1/4, and full ahead. 1/2 and 3/4 speed had roughly the same length of wake and that length was very close to full ahead.

The new wakes add to the aesthetic of cruising along like you're escorting and cutting through the sea at flank speed.

Edit: Though I still think the wakes need to be longer, both at low speeds and especially at flank speed. Like ships in real life, I'd like to see wakes that trail 2-3 ship lengths behind mine.

Rooster tails need to be bigger.  I've seen pictures of New Jersey at high speed with the rooster tail 20' above the rear deck.

Taken by a crew member at the time while at speed.
