I have been writing Tank Roll Call article for awhile now, and I know this forum is about ships but this is a project headed by the Imperial Japanese Navy. My Tank Roll Call article is also a day early due to a family emergency. So here it is

They were used for shore landings and launched from assault ships. So. Yes. They did go into the ocean. That's what they were made for.

Also apparently the Type 2 Ka-Mi has the distinction of being WW2's best amphibious tank.

That is exactly what it was built for, and I thought the article had made that clear but I may not have made it's role or it's deployment clear enough. Ty, for clearing that up for me. Also I did see a quote saying that it was the best amphibious of the war but it never made the article due to me being unsure if that was fact or just how someone felt about the tank.

Considering what the Americans and British had to do to get tanks on the beaches at Normandy, I'd say the Ka-Mi was objectively the superior vehicle for beach landings.

Also the famous Higgins Boat was based on the Japanese daihatsu landing craft, with some modifications and improvements.

Well I'd agree with you but I didn't want to count out the LVT's the Marines had. I'd say it's easily a better option over the DD tanks.

Just because those tank tracks touch the ocean water to make there way to the shore is a bit of a stretch of the imagination thats its considered a "SHIP"   Don't you think?   Do you see these ingame here on WOW?   Maybe you should suggest to the Devs that they do.

You should put this article in the historical section where it would be in the right place.  Since it is a amphibious tank...the correct place is WOT don't ya think?

I found this one interesting with the short barrel 120mm naval anti submarine gun on a Type 97 Chi Ha

Did anyone suggest putting these in the game? We're just discussing an interesting vehicle that was used in some shore landing operations.

if it floats its a boat!

Honestly, when I was looking at and researching the Type 2 Kz-Mi, if felt more like I was looking at a boat that converts into a tank, instead of a tank that converts into a boat. I hope you get what I mean.

well it is interesting for that era, in that it appears designed from the ground up, to float, to motor, to be amphibious. The allies had amphibious tanks, but they were (all?) conversions from existing fighting vehicules.

Yeah I just looked that up. Messed up when the Army needed Escort Carriers. Mean it's the Army, why in the hell do they need carriers?
