Example of those players who don't have a clue of the battle you're fighting and chat up that you are useless and asks the team to report you.  Happened tonight.

First chat up was that I wasn't in the fight....I was in the fight, just at a distance.  And not camping.  At the time, an enemy DD had flanked our force and I was the only ship between the DD and our undefended cap.  I had just dodged a torp spread when I got the message. I had to play a dual roll of engaging the enemy in the forward fight, and keeping the DD from getting free run on our cap..  But all this player saw was an Amagi in the back...and started the chat up to report me for being useless...and to "get in the game".  If I got in his game....the DD would have capped us and we would have lost.

It was a close game at the end.  Their DD turned away from the cap attempt and attempted to take our DD out for a points win.  I caught him midway.  He was almost full health.  I put several rounds into him...taking his health down below half and giving our DD the HP advantage...and our DD got the kill to seal the win.

Just after performing this work, as the clock tic'd down on our win...the player's final jab at me was to "stop being useless".  Here's the final screen shot with the chat.  That red on the mini-map is the DDs intended trajectory (about 5 minutes prior) for the cap if I had not been in position to stop him.

And here's the final tally.  The player calling me "useless" is circled. I rest my case:

At least once per night I get somebody in chat complaining that "our DDs didn't do anything" (I'm generally in a DD).  Most times I'm too busy doing things to respond, so I just have to content myself with topping the leaderboard instead.  I do make a mental note of who it is doing the complaining, and it's very rare when that player doesn't fall into the bottom third.

BTW, I beat your damage total in GC.  Thought I recognized that screenname. :Smile_glasses:

If you feel like you have to prove your point a replay file.

How does this even bother you with 10k battles is what I wonder most... Just reflect your own game and continue...

Had battle the other day a player was telling me not to camp in the back " like I always do" never saw him before and he assumed way too much lol.

I went to front lines like I usually like to do, eventually ai died after good damage as well as kills. Then that same player said I played terribly and should have everyone report me for "poor play" well everyone else disagreed and felt I had done more than enough. And they all said they needed to report that one player for chat...

Got to love when a problem arises and the people around you take care of it quite nicely...

to be fair, its not like reports are meaningful anyways.  i save mine for the AFKs, some [edited]hole in chat who is constantly being annoying, or that really really special potato sniping from the 10 line all game long with his spotter aircraft(extra duration) and extra range monty.

People will report for anything and nothing.  Example: I've been chat reported while already on a chat ban.

Hey, I just had some crybaby calling me useless when he saw my full health Bretagne near the end of the match.

Never mind that I had been constantly sailing toward the enemy the whole game doing all of 21 knots, and the few shots that were fired at me bounced. It was entirely my fault that cruisers rushing ahead of me were getting hit instead.

It gets to me how there are people dying early into the match for rushing to their deaths early into the match and they rarely get called out useless.

Then there's those like you who have like around 2 kills under their name, sustainable mild to major damage and dished out 6 times more damage in return and the few still alive helping win for the time and they get called out for being useless.

It's a stupid norm!

Happens all the time.  Playing the Op a couple nights ago (Aegis).  We had sunk all but two of the escort ships.  All of us were still alive and the escorts were two Kuma's.  So ASSUMING the other 3 near full health cruisers could take care of two bots, myself (in a DD) and a cruiser head up to get ready to blap the CV's when they spawn in.  Soon chat fills with one player talking about the useless team.  Keeps flaming away.  Don't see any CV.  Look and the two escorts are still alive.  So I engage spood beast and head south along with the cruiser that went with me.  As I pass the player flaming away constantly in chat about the useless team, his guns are silent while the escorts are well within gun range.  By now the bot BB's spawned in, killing the flamer.  Mission failed.  Had plenty of time to flame away in chat.  But couldn't shoot at a couple bots.

Happily, I don't see this much.  Then again, I haven't done Random since..  oh wait..  did one last night.

My one Random game:  Tier 7:  32K damage... top of my losing team.  Got about 100 hits with 92 pens for only 32K damage?  RNG hates me.

----  silly part is that we held TWO CAPS for the entire mission.  I looked up mid-battle, and we had equal # ships, but the score was 650 us, 910 them..

They won on points...   I fail to see where they got them.

His comment seems to indicate he was talking about earlier. A screenshot with enemy ships on the minimap would be more helpful.

That's the point.  The player did not have my situational awareness as the the DD was NOT on the minimap!!!   Except for the DD, the reds were all north close to their cap.  All  our greens were up there too.  I was just forward of our cap line located in the east.  I was engaged, at mid to long range against the reds to the North...but I also had that unseen DD on my [edited]...having just watched a torp spread go by my stern.   No one at our cap.  No one close.  If you looked at the mini-map at that moment, I can easily see how one could come to a wrong conclusion.  Amagi in back (if one could call the forward cap line the back) all by its lonesome, with everyone else engaged to the north.  But it wasn't everyone else....their DD was on the prowl in the east and our cap (and Me!) was the target.   I even clicked the two squares of his likely presence a couple of times over the next 30 seconds.  Anyone with MM awareness at that tier would know EXACTLY why those boxes were called out.

When I got called out...I replied something to the effect that a DD was flanking to our cap.  I had the situational awareness to know this...the minimap didn't provide the information I had in my tactical bubble; remember, I just saw a torp spread go by my stern.  I played it so the DD had to go through me, or the long way around (probably not feasible due to time constraints and being out of the fight too long) to get there, while also maneuvering a bit to avoid getting a lethal torp spread up my [edited]because the DD was tracking me, but I couldn't see him and no one around to spot it.  Was he headed directly toward me, looking for a torp shot?  Flanking to the south side, to get a broadside shot?  Headed back north to support the fighter there?  I had to juggle all this information, while still tracking and engaging targets to the north, and even dodging one TBD squadron that decided to have a go.

I could not turn north until the cap threat was detected or eliminated as there was NO ONE on defense but me, and NO ONE who could return to defend in time!  Fortunately, I had maneuvering room, as anyone who has run a BB with an unseen stalking DD can attest...it ain't fun!!!

That said, it was mentally challenging to juggle all those factors...multiple threats on multiple fronts, with the game coming down to the wire...where winning or losing hinged upon what I did over the next few minutes.  Totally absorbing...and yeah...despite the pressure...fun!!!

I guess my ultimate frustration is that even though I noted the DD was headed toward or cap, and I needed to defend (which I successfully accomplished), and then landed several game-winning blows, to assist in a very close victory, I was still called out in the end.

They could make the Karma system 500% better with just a slight change:

1. Eliminate all "reports" except for chat (they don't do anything anyway).

2. If someone receives x number of chat reports in y number of games, their chat logs should be reviewed by a PERSON to determine whether a ban is issued.

3. KEEP the compliments

Basically make the Karma system similar to the upvote system in the forums - negative votes removed, only positive votes count, and a LIVE PERSON is required to hand out a chat ban (unless triggered by an auto-language detect for banned words).

Another change I'd like to see is that a new chat channel should be added. There's already chat channels for Global, Side, and Division. We need to add one for Dead. Yes, Dead players can give crucial info that the living may have missed, but given how often it is used to for abuse - think it would be best to join the list of games that don't allow the dead to speak to the living in chat.

I've been called out for positioning before.  Often, I turn out to be right and it plays out the way I expect it to.  Some people think you should just sail right into the teeth of the enemy and don't understand what a cross-fire is.  I've given up explaining myself and just do what I think is going to be the most useful.  Sometimes I am right, sometimes I am wrong.  But the guy complaining is usually wrong.

Useless is dying in first 5 minutes of a match when you could have kited them and made the best of a bad situation.  Ignore people who want you to suicide because it makes them look less stupid.

I have gone to playing a lot of dd games lately. It seems that they (like BB's) are focused for a lot of rage. I have been raged at for not charging into a cap with two enemy radar ships on the other side of it. Occasionally you get a helpful comment, but more frequently not.

When you get "reported" - after your team wins, you having not used chat at all, and you're in the top percentage of, if not the top XP earner that match.  :Smile_facepalm:

Seeing this more often.

Didn't bother me before but now it's gotten annoying, seeing your karma drop for no good reason.  Some clueless scrub who died in the first four minutes of the match not agreeing with how you played your boat, even though you did well.  Someone you beat who instead of being gracious in defeat, decides to be sore about it and reports you.  A teammate whose kill you "stole". Etc, etc...

I only hand out compliments now.  Stopped reporting a long ago.  Seems silly and trivial anyway, and totally ineffective.  The Karma system is not well thought-out and vulnerable to abuse.  I have a reasonably good accumulation, nothing great, of positive Karma - whatever that means - but I'd be happier seeing that system completely gone altogether.

I'm fine with the chat ban process as-is.   I've gotten very salty in chat.  Never once received a chat ban.  People who do, are doing something wrong.

At the end of the day, it's just a game.   I play to pass the time and to have some fun.   There's a small minority of vocal players that take this game way to personally.   I've seen these people curse at the opposing players for sinking them (most cases are devastating strikes; which should be congratulated for great play) and curse at their own team mates for what they perceive as bad play (as opposed to giving constructive advise).

I would consider myself a below avg player who play bb most of the time.   I've been called out that i'm out of position, what they don't realize is that a lot of times I'm out of position because circumstances (like dodging torps and it takes awhile to maneuver a bb).   Or because I'm human and make mistakes (tunnel vision) but that's all part of playing and luckily it's just a game and we lose a digital ship (that reappears in our port) and a game that has no meaningful impact on our real lives.
