Standard Haven.  Half go right.. Half go left.  Soon thereafter, I get detected from what must be a DD.  The only vector is up the middle.  I square detect for the team.  No response.  I go undetected (due to terrain blockage)...then detected again...same vector.  I square detect for the team again.  And a third time.  No response.

The game progresses.  Our base begins to get capped.  I pop the automated base defense request three times over a minute or so.  No response.

Three square detects.  Three base defense warnings.  Nothing...yada...zilch.  No defenders.  No return defenders.  Game over.

That sounds about right.  Our team lost a game a couple weeks ago where the enemy had a few badly damaged ships in our cap, and we had a couple full health ships within 10km of our cap, but hid behind islands and wouldn't fire on the ships to reset the cap points.  I should also mention that we had a single ship uncontested in their cap, but they outcapped us because of the 3 ships.  We only needed to reset each ship once to win the game.  I should also mention that one of our ships was a near full health Montana.  We ended up losing the match by being capped out, while having more and healthier ships left in the game.

I had a good mid tier team yesterday that paid attention when I pinged the flank I was retreating from as four ships pushed around that flank/island. The BBs all said affirmative and blasted 3 cruisers off the map.

They do it in Co-op too. People just will not defend the base and I don't know why?

Typical. I'll say it again, I'm still always amazed how many people are too dense to understand how to standard battle.

P.S. If I were a clan/clan battle type and I were the one setting application criteria I'd insist applicants show specific replay evidence that they, as a fundamental prerequisite, understand how to play standard battles - even though clan battles are not the same. THAT'S how much of a pet peeve this is to me.

Today in the extreme competitive league (tier 4)....Me in the Nikolai in Rasputin camo and two cruisers valiantly defended the base against the evil red...

Both of my comrades fell but their sacrifices allowed the glory, credit and self pleasure seeking players cap the enemy base....I think we all know who the real hero’s are....

No kidding! I frequently see most of the team rush off to one side, sometimes almost to the map edge, and stay there. No attempt to cap the Red base or defend ours. It's like they're afraid to fight.

To add a little balance and going off what you have said: did you actually state their was an enemy DD detecting you or on route to the base?

I've seen many people banging away at the map squares with no other info, like those that like spamming the messages or tooting their horn. Also when the base started to get capped how far away were people; could they be expected to turn back at that point (would they have got back in time)?

Did you throw out a message to a couple of the CAs to turn back (or a DD if any were still alive at that point)?

You probably did, but sometimes when people are highlighting boxes it can be difficult to know if they are 'sure' there is something there, or whether they think the area should be covered because 'they have a feeling'. :Smile_honoring:

In co-op, my tin foil hat theory is that the bots have an unseen rpf and will go in force in the direction of whatever green ship rushes out in front of the others. That's usually me and I'm constantly encountering a mass of ships.

Actually, no. They start with the lowest tiers and move up the chain.

I experienced something like this on Tears of the Desert a couple of days ago except I was the DD.

Sort of went middle then into the islands on the right side to ambush their BBs. A radar cruiser popped his radar and so while detected I just made a dash for their cap.

Chased off one DD with my guns then sat in their cap for almost 2 minutes before anyone came back. Then it was one ship at a time. Gunned down two DDs and killed a BB.with 5 torps. Spent over 6 mins in their cap before I had to retreat.

We won the game easily. If they had turned and focused me I would have been dead early in the match. Instead I totally changed the game with their lazy response.

Becuse the bots could citadel a solid block of steel, and because bot torps are always perfect, even if you've been dodging like a mouse being chased by a fox.

Scares the pants of a lot of players.

People who protect their imaginairy base, while the goal of the game is to capture A, B, C...

One of the first signs that the team I'm on is going to lose is hearing "PROTECT THE BASE" within the first minute of a match; it's time to get out the KOA Kampground sign and issue popcorn.

Saw this on day two of Clan Wars.     On Tears, we had been caught quickly capping C (home cap) and then heading to B (red's home cap).    Most of us pushed past C, allowing a red DD to come from A and cap C behind us.

A couple of matches later, we did the same.   My team capped C.  Me, in a DD capped A, unmolested, and then swung to red's B cap, and capped, unmolested.   The red team was in a great big ball, headed to our C cap.   It ended quickly.

Even in clan wars, sometimes folks forget basic game play.

EXACTLY and it leaves me alone fighting 5-6 trying to keep us from losing.

I know the bots are very accurate, set fires one after another, do max damage it seems every salvo, etc... like no human can BUT you still have to defend the base or you lose. LOL

Standard really brings out the 'special people', unfortunately. Every time I see a Standard battle, I cringe cause I know that in 90% of the matches, my whole team lemming trains along one flank, forcing me to hold the opposite flank and kite and delay the enemy push long enough for at least a few teammates to get the message and turn back.

And you'd think that the lemming train would push hard and rush the enemy base ... but no. For some reason, thay all tend to find a bunch of islands on their flank to hide in and just stall forever.

Honestly, if you had a team that actual split 50/50, it means you got one of the better ones :/

I %@#$%^ hate Standard.

Standard battles should be removed from the game, they are always the worst. Two things happens, either team dont even leave base or they go to the corner of the map for no reason, players seems to get lost without a clear objective.

Negative, players need to learn to play properly

While i agree that players should learn to play properly, unfortunately most of them will never learn...
