So this is how I have my Aigle specced:

http://bit.ly/2Eo9qOL

Now Im wondering where to spend my 4 remaining commander skill points on for my Aigle captain who is trained for the T3 french cruiser, the Friant but will sit most of their time in the Aigle unless im in a division and someone calls for tier 3s, and Im torn apart by the options:

1. RDF

2. Concealment Expert

3. Advance Firing Training

4. Superintendent & Preventive Maintenance

5. Smoke Screen Expert & Adrenaline Rush.

My Playstyle for your assistance can be described as:

early game close gunfire support gunboat, where I support friendly DDs contesting for caps in domination gamemode (aggressive pushing teammates are sometimes rewarded with my smoke layed spread along the border of the cap circle) and sail with the friendly cruiser or DDs and shoot what they shoot at add to their firepower in standard battles.

Mid-game fire harrasser, I smoke near an island or drive around at max gun range with engine boost on and shoot at things usually a BB but will switch aim to a lower health target a closer DD if spotted in my gun range.

Spotter, if my health is too low I put myself between friendlies and enemies and not shoot, but I take care not to get spotted myself so I can spot for my team.

Late game ambush sentry/flanker, this is a defensive playstyle works if I'm defending a cap or a combat retreat with islands nearby against singular enemy or a very scattered pushing enemy force, I simply pick an island thats inline with the enemy's advance hide behind wait for them to come around and shotgun torpedo them.

Hopefully this all helps you to give me advice to spend my remaining commander skill. /;^_\\>

My two cents worth:

Take AFT -  Your play style is almost like a light cruiser and the extra gun range will allow you to stay at range a little more safely and gives you more leeway to sling shells around the map.

For your other options:

  • RPF -  This is a handy skill however if you aren't going to actively hunt DDs AFT will give you more bang for your buck
  • CE - You are more stealthy than any Cruiser without it and you are still out spotted by most DDs with CE so it doesn't give you that much of an advantage.
  • SI & PM - Both worthwhile skills. However assuming you use premium consumables, how often do you really run out of them? & How often do you lose modules?
  • Smoke  & AR - With the new smoke mechanics extending the detectability of BBs & CAs I don't see this as a particularly useful skill. Your existing smoke is enough to hide in. AR on the other hand does provide an advantage if you are low health but I would take JOT as the second T2 skill.

They tend to run out especially smoke in the last 5 minutes of the match and by then there are usually 3 or less enemy ships to sink.

Showed my clan members this too and one of them so far said AFT or CE for harrassment.

I would highly question the effectiveness of AFT, considering Aigle's extremely high gun arcs.  Her base range of 12.8km is already quite good, and more than enough for how I tend to play her.

Right now I'm running PT, EM, LS, BFT, DE, and CE. I've only  played a few games in mine but I find myself shooting from smoke a lot. Couple that with the fact that she is SO much better with speed boost active I'll be getting SI next. I usually get SE on all my DDs but I cant see giving up any of the other three point skills. Luckily Aigle already has a good health pool.

Definitely CE. You are a light cruiser with good concealment and no citadel. Aigle is an excellent ship for supporting friendly DDs early game. Her torpedoes are best used for island ambushes and punishing overextending players while kiting, and being able to stealth-torp would help immensely

There is a utility build, a damage build and a torpedo build. The torpedo build is probably the least practical of the 3 but the peeds are good enough that it works. (did it for a few matches...wouldn't recommend it)

#1 Damage build. AR, BFT and IFHE nets you more overall damage but it's inconsistent. You'll get high damage games and low damage games.

#2 Utility build. SI and RPF. It's fairly simple. You just have more consumables and use RPF to augment your game senses, remove some of the guess work and track ships down to the grid square from half way across the map for your team.

#3  TR, AR (SI or RPF if you want) Simple Chuck peeds, chuck more peeds...keep chucking peeds.

You could run some kind of vanilla gunboat DD build and it'd probably do fine to. EM, BFT, CE is a given. You'll probably want to try and make sure you have SE most if not all. There are a lot of good skills to grab on the 3rd tier and some that you'll probably want to make sure you have by default so you'll have to give up something somewhere. It just depends what you find yourself needing more. It makes it a little easier to pick since you don't get that juicy Main Battery reload booster.

Concealment Expert makes a huge difference on Aigle. I bought Charles-Henri Honoré in the Armory, and his Expert Marksman is outstanding. If you use the Main Battery Modification 2 along with it you get good rotation time on the 5.5” guns. Combined with Concealment Expert you drop your visibility to 6.8km and can shell from a distance in smoke. It gives you a lot more versatility. Aigle needs a 10 point or better captain to be good, with a 7 point captain and no concealment boost it was a much harder ship to play.

I barely run Aigle much only bring her to ops sometimes, I have the damage build on a honore captain pretty fun in Aegis when you can get on the sides of those convoy escorts and open up on them with AP in smoke while they are spotted by the friendly convoy

She already has good range, her and even the tier 7 dd vaq both have 700 shell velocity so adding range makes the flight time atrocious. My setup is priority 🎯, last stand(definitely worth the points to get out alive), then I go crazy with tier 3 perks... Survival expert(get the premium captain for extra health).. Super intendant for more spinach, demolition expert for more hot loving, French dds are great for it. Then my tier four is concealment..... It synergies well together.. With stealth you get closer to actually stealth torp, let them dcp then de helps with fires... Stealth also gets you closer so when a cruiser broadside you use your 139mm ap love and citidal them with ease..... She's a beautiful ship with high hp, speed, BIG guns and 18400 damage torps ... Without concealment you can't get those huge torps in action as often.... Happy hunting
